TV Shows Watched: The Sandman: S2E9 (Netflix) with audio description, The institute: S1E5 (MGM Plus) with audio description, Countdown: S1E8 (Amazon) with audio description, Hitmakers: S1E2 (Netflix) with audio description, Mindhunter: S1E7 (Netflix) with audio description, Breaking Bad: S2E8 (Netflix) with audio description
The Sandman- Still consistently great audio description from DVW. Some of the best moments of description are what happens to Fiddler’s Green, and the description of that, but also Loki continuing his mischief. The episode was petty centric on Joanna Constantine and The Corinthian, but definitely ended on a dour note for Dream.
The Institute- What a cliffhanger! Is Luke really going to get out in Episode 5? If this is a limited series, sure, because he has to set the ball rolling to topple the whole thing. If they are planning on multiple seasons, no way. This is a slow burn that is paying off, with some really solid audio description.
Countdown- Another cliffhanger! That cliffhanger made me wish every episode didn’t finish with “next time on Countdown”… and while countdown theoretically could have a second season, I just don’t know how. Dane can’t be a part of it, and Ackles is filming his spinoff of The boys, while still being a recurring player for Tracker (and having the potential to lead a spinoff of that).
Hitmakers- I admittedly had this show pegged a little off. They aren’t rotating artists and songwriters. I’m now a little more interested in the journey. Although, while I liked the songs from the first episode, I thought all three of these were duds.
Mindhunter- The duo meet their match in Jer, a serial killer who is less than honest in their interactions. It’s like a game for him, and the guys have to figure out how to beat him at it. My favorite scene was actually the funny one, where our leads are flying on a plane, and some Karen demands to be in the middle seat, even though the agents say they need to talk about their case. So, he just gets treated to a whole bunch of crime scene photos he did not want to see. Seriously though, he’s probably a serial killer anyway. Who actually fights for the middle seat between two strangers?
Breaking Bad- Badger gets pinched, so you’d Better Call Saul! Finally! Although, I’m not sure Vince Gilligan watches his own shows. There’s a scene here of Jimmy being really gross toward Francheska, and he never hit on her in Better Call Saul. certainly, never in this gross ass way. Badger’s gonna have to work off that debt. Solid audio description, though nothing quite like the surprise carnage in the previous episode with the kamikaze turtle.
