Peacemaker- I’ve heard this is game changing. Considering I’ve recently seen Superman, I’m not sure something can be that game changing when the thing that came before it was the literal reboot of the entire DCEU into just the DCU. But, sure. So I won’t spoil it. I did like the twist about the difference between worlds, but the cameo was just… meh? I would have been far more surprised if that was played by a different actor. Also, great audio description from Zoo digital. I admittedly watched this while doing my morning walk, and I did hear writer/narrator, and I recognized the names, and thought I could remember it. Did not happen.
Marvel Zombies- The heroes remaining make it to New Asgard, and we also get a flashback of how the whole thing kinda/sorta started from the perspective of Spider-Man (alongside a silent Black Panther, and Ant Man). Some of the violent deaths translate well in the audio description, but I’m having a hell of a time keeping track of who is alive and dead. Like, once again, who actually made it on the ship?
Wayward- Netflix’s other new scripted series this week stars Toni Collette (kinda), and overplays its hand right out of the gate. the problem is, these misspent youths are clearly being sent to a school that is anything but, however we don’t learn that organically through our newest delinquent. the show has a kid escape, who is terrified of going back, which already sets the story on a different edge. I might have let it play out differently, instead of lighting the fuse right away. The audio description is excellent, and we got some decent character introductions, along with some mentions of race/ethnicity.
The Summer I turned Pretty- Apologies abound, and they are really trying to stretch out the end of this. Who will she choose? You might just have to wait for the movie. Yes, Amazon is wrapping this whole thing with a movie.
My Life With the Walter Boys- the barn burned down, yet plans were already made to build a lodge. seems heavily suspect. Also, apologies abound here as well, some from people who had nothing to apologize for. Jackie also finds out if she’s going to be Student Body President. It is made worse because she’s running against a smug bitch who won’t even shake her hand. My college aged kids are obsessed with the Summer I Turned Pretty, but don’t watch Walter Boys, so I’m not sure who this show is for. they know it exists, they just don’t watch it.
celebrity Weakest Link- A fun premise. Jane Lynch moves to FOX, and to help get things started, she brings along random cast members from Glee.I wasn’t expecting to see Lea Michele anyway, but was Artie busy? And if so, with what? Also, what about Chris Colfer? I felt like some of these cast members couldn’t have been the first ones asked.
The Daily Show- I know we love the jokes, but I’m not sure taking the one thing Ted Cruz has said recently that made sense, and making a much larger joke out of his bad Mafia accent, as well as his other voices, was the right move. Just take the quote. We didn’t need to stray from the point.
Who Wants to Be A Millionaire- Two pairs. The first are two of my favorite comedians, Sarah Silverman and Marc Maron. The second were two of the lesser Office cast members, who are extremely anxiety inducing. The audio description came through on a 50/50 by reading out what remained, but also apparently Oscar was getting up and down a lot, and this is where the AD could have mentioned something, but doesn’t. I didn’t even realize it was a thing until Jimmy joked about it constantly happening.
