Daryl Dixon- A really tough episode to get through without audio description thanks to the amount of non-English spoken, and the combat sequences.Who died? Don’t know. Were those throwing stars? Maybe. The best part of the episode was the clarification on if Carol and Daryl have ever been friends with benefits. “Nope!” Not that I thought they had, but I can see why people think they’re an old married couple at this point.
Black Rabbit- Anna is talking, which triggers a fixer. You would think the fixer would be better equipped for what he’s dealing with in this episode. Also, having seen this episode, Vince would be better off just buying a gun and killing the two goons who keep harassing him, because that’s what they clearly want to do to him. Some really fantastic work in this series. I’m not quite as anxiety ridden as others have been, but I do like the pacing of the show, and the audio description is solid.
Next Gen Chef- I need some Next Gen Personality in this show. Four episodes in, and the contestants are starting to emerge as more interesting than the hosts/judges. Casting is so important. Then again, if all you have is Netflix, and you’ve been wanting a Top chef style show, this is it.
the Golden Bachelor- Bachelor Nation, I’ve ignored you in the Diaries. But Mel is so toxic, I just had to use this season to watch at least the first episode. For anyone bored, I highly recommend the first ten minutes (ish), which is just Mel eating crow. Next to that term in the dictionary, it will show a picture of The Golden Bachelor. For the unfamiliar, this guy went on a podcast, and proudly demanded women under 60, and said he’d send home any woman over 60. The whole first show felt like an apology tour. He claims to have reflected on his hurtful comments. this is where I really wanted this AD track to come through, so I could track the ladie, and how old they were. I wanted to see how many over the age of 60 I would send home. To be fair, regardless of age, the woman who thought the puppet was the right introduction would have been my first elimination. Other than her, everyone else seemed fine, though no one ever finds lasting love on these shows, and you think this guy is looking for a forever relationship? Please. this AD is awful. Bachelor nation has been living with audio description I’d love to be the one cashing the check on to narrate as I read like four lines of text. It really doesn’t do anything. I would have wanted to know the names, ages, and what each of these women looked like, plus a much better intro for Mel.He had two rose ceremonies that fell flat because I didn’t even know who he was sending home. This was a curiosity for me, and I don’t want to watch an entire season of The Bachelor, of any version, especially one with this guy putting on a show. He showed his true colors on the podcast. He’s not picking a woman over 60.
Billy The Kid- I tried this once before after it supposedly had AD, and there was nothing there. Now there is, on the day its final season launches. DVW is behind the AD, and we start with Billy really as a kid, and watching his family struggle in the dangerous Wild West. It was an Ok pilot. I’m not as blown away by this as I have been by From or The Institute, but I don’t really have a western on my plate. With a ton of shows launching, we’ll see if this can keep my attention.
Have i got News for You- Lewis Black is my favorite (alive) stand up comedian. I’ve seen him live. I own at least one of his specials on DVD. So, having him here made me happy, but with everything going on in the world, why does Lewis Black not have his own show right now? With all the streamers who could launch content like Daily Show, Have I Got News, and Last Week Tonight, Lewis Black is an obvious choice.
Tulsa King- Dwight finds out what happened at the end of the last episode, and starts preparing to take on a Dixie Mafia. There was a scene with Cole helping someone, and I straight up did not remember who that character even was. I’m not sure which one of Dwight’s people is most vulnerable, but honestly, I’d pick Joanne.
The Morning Show- Alex loses her mind over a deep fake. Kris runs across town to meet the dumbest doorman in the city. Also, come on writers. You had the opportunity to have a really fun moment, and Kris never identified herself? she’s a former Olympian (if I remember correctly) turned news anchor, and she runs into the doorman who doesn’t know her? In was shouting at the TV. “GOOGLE YOURSELF”. When he asked for ID, she should have pulled up her Wikipedia page. Or a Youtube video. Something. Instead, she gives up. WTF? Bradley also teams up with an old friend to meet the source, and Corey finds just what he needs to get exactly what he wants.
