TV Shows Watched: Silo: S3E8 (Apple) with audio description, Stuart Fails: S1E4 (HBO MAX) with audio description, Mating Season: S1E6 (Netflix) with audio description, Robin Hood: S1E6 (MGM Plus) with audio description, The Miniature Wife: S1E10 (Peacock) with audio description
Silo- The episode is titled Grey Goo, and when you get to the end, that’s all you really need. It’s like Silo’s version of Olaf’s Frozen quote “some people are worth melting for”. Jedediah Barton and Pixel Logic do more wonderful AD as they cram a lot into this episode. Not only do we check on the past, but we see into Silo 17, and our current Silo has multiple plots including the murder investigation, what Juliette is trying to do to save the Silo, and what Camille is doing to stop her, believing that she is saving the Silo. Also, fans of Michael Crichton’s Prey, one of his few books to never receive an adaptation, will appreciate part of this fabric and the fear woven in.
Stuart Fails- After leaving The Matrix, the gang stumble into a utopian community, a little primitive, but can’t stop from modernizing it to fit their own styles. Another hilarious episode from one of the freshest shows around, with excellent opening credits worth watching, and wonderful AD from Eli Schiff.
Mating Season- I’ll learn this guys name eventually. He also describes Rick and Morty. My usual statements hold. I feel this team tries to do as much as they can, but the show defeats them. Frequently, you won’t even know what type of animal is speaking, so jokes can get lost. Yes, not always, as they do get a few in there, but not always. I can tell they are trying to maximize instead of coast. It takes strong writers to try and milk anything out of adult animation, and this is doing that.
Robin Hood- Still slowly walking through this. It premiered last November. Will I finish Season 1 before November? vote now! Rob and Marian hook up, and then her belligerent, overtly nasty father comes in at the end with a misguided truth bomb. The AD here is fine. It’s a period show, so we could get more in background description, costumes, etc, but it is pretty good.
The Miniature Wife- The bottom AD track of the day as the series closes out in what seems like a big way, but I’m glad it’s over. A wonderful premise squandered on this narrative. Downsizing The Series sounds fun, but not when this is what it turns out to be. She-Ra now has one less show on my watchlist.
Best: Stuart Fails- Gotta give the opening credits some love, plus digging through shit to find meaning in life is pretty well done.
Worst: The Miniature Wife- The best thing I can say is that it is over.
