A weird day yesterday. Best laid plans. Didn’t get to review things as I had hoped. Coming up this week on streaming, the biggest movie seems to be Netflix’s The Whisper Man with Adam Scott, Robert DeNiro, and Michelle Monaghan. Returning Series include Dark MAtter (Apple), Adults (Hulu), The Undeclared War (Peacock), Leann (Netflix), and Beauty In Black (Netflix), as well as more Jeopardy Masters (ABC). On the new horizon, not much. Netflix has something called The Airport Chaplin with Hugo Weaving, but it is pretty bare.

TV Shows Watched: The Vampire Lestat (Interview With A vampire Season 3): All Episodes (AMC Plus) with audio description, Rooster: S1E8 (HBO MAX) with audio description, and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire: S5E4 (Disney Plus) with audio description

The Vampire Lestat- Yes. All episodes have audio description on AMC Plus. I was shocked. Seven episodes, and Lestat is very much the lead this time around instead of Louis. I plan on reviewing, but what and how they wove Claudia into the season I thought was incredible, but the season is at times pretentious, but almost intentionally so. Lestat is pursuing a career as an artist in a time when more people are aware of, and accepting of Vampires. He still has a complicated history with Louis, who is featured here as well, and we also learn more about Gabriela. Daniel is back too, after last seeing him in Talamaska. The AD is meh. It does exist, which for AMC Plus is a victory unto itself, but it is uncredited, and it fights a lot with built in narration by Lestat, so a very visual series doesn’t always get the room to breathe that it needs. This would be a good case study for extended audio description.

Rooster- Funniest episode yet. That cop is such an idiot. The AD here was fine, especially for a comedy.

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire- Pretty sure this is synthetic still, but they finally started to nudge in the direction of being useful. This week they actually said which ones remained in the 50/50 and also which one the audience picked and by what percentage. Now I just have to remember what A,B,C,D are, because they only read the letters. So if you can’t see the screen, you just hear that B and D remain, and wait for the contestants to talk about it. I’ll leave it alone this week, to encourage VerbIt to actually evolve this track more to be what it needs to be.

Nothing was truly great, or bad, and since I would like to encourage AMC Plus to make full seasons of audio description, as well as encourage VerbIt to make decent audio description, that just leaves Rooster to win the day. Congrats to Rooster for the luck of the draw here.
