TV Shows Watched: Lanterns: S1E3 (HBO MAX) with audio description, Black Torch: S1E1 (CrunchyRoll) with audio description, elle: S1E6 (Amazon) with audio description, American Classic: S1E8 (MGM Plus) with audio description

I almost finished a fifth show, but alas, I did not.

Lanterns- A fantastic flashback origin story for John Stewart, and how his family worked hard to ensure he’d be the next Green Lantern. IDC, Dakota Green, and ren Leach continue to produce good work. I liked how the guardian was described, and little details about the passage of time during John’s sniper mission.

Black Torch- A fairly easy to understand show, by comparison. A teen, Jiro, is able to hear animals talk, which leads him to what appears to be a dead cat, but instead is actually a recuperating Mononoke (immortal being), and then a battle for the immortal sauce of this being becoms the center struggle, but he can also change form, and merge with Jiro, boosting his abilities to be a more powerful Dr Doolittle. Melvina Babu wrote this show too through Gloabal 3, and although they use synthetic voice, this is an exceptional writer every time out of the gate.

Elle- Elle and friends basically do a Breakfast Club to break into the principal’s office, and steal the evidence needed. I enjoy the show, but this episode telegraphed a bit much about who the villain is in all of this. Elle’s mom is gonna need therapy after all of this. Lovely audio description by Media Access Group.

American Classic- The season finale. If I get around to reviewing it, I will. Good news though, as MGM Plus picked this up for a second season.

Best AD- American Classic- Surprised? So am i. but the finale dealt with big secrets shifting around, so there was quite a bit of emphasis on facial expressions, as they also have to perform Our Town. So our main family, some who are hiding more than others, put on faces, roll eyes, tear up, and emote all over the place and I loved it. It really brought this finale to life. Lanterns would be the easy pick, due to the science fiction element, but this is the right pick for today.

Worst AD- Black Torch- It’s still synthetic, putting it at a massive disadvantage, even if Melvina is an exceptional writer.
