TV shows Watched: Lucky:S1 E1-5 (Apple) with audio description, and The Doomies: S1E1 (Disney Plus) with audio description
Lucky- My newest attempt to knock out a show while busy brought me pretty damn close, since there are only 7 episodes of Lucky. But this series is a blast from start to finish if you haven’t started. A huge cast, led by Anya Taylor Joy, but also featuring Annette Bening, Timothy Olyphant, Drew Starkey, William Fichtner, Aunjuane Ellis-Taylor, and Clifton Collins Jr. Not bad at all. Pixel Logic has done some nice work on the audio description for a somewhat frenetic tale of crime, greed, and survival, as Lucky (Taylor Joy) wakes up one morning to find her husband Cary (Starkey) took off with the money they stole from some dangerous people. Now Lucky has to run from everyone looking for her, while she tries to track down Cary, in a thriller series with interesting family ties throughout.
The Doomies- Yesterday, I said I almost finished an episode of something else. it was this. The half-hour new animated series at Disney Plus, with some horror/comedy elements, but for kids. It didn’t really remind me of another show immediately, which is a good thing. However, this has to be synthetic voice, because it sounded like the narrator was disassociating from the show themselves. So generic and flat.Disney either has no faith in the series, or this is just one more new show from the Summer of 2026 they decided to not pay for human AD.
The win loss on a two-show day, even though one show was five episodes, would be easy still. Lucky wins best AD, Doomies wins worst. Actually of the three synthetic performances I’ve gotten from Disney Plus this summer, Doomies was my least favorite.
