Remember how I said the strike would be leading to more and more announcements of cancellations? NBC has now confirmed that the shortened third season of Labrea is officially its last, something most people assumed. You don’t just cut an episode count that dramatically and keep it running for years after. The fact that I’m hearing that the SAG AMPTA negotiations are being held up over AI really tells me all I need to know about the studios positions. I’ve been clicking on random titles, and so far the small list I’ve got includes: The machinist, Dungeons and Dragons honor Among Thieves, Women Talking, 3000 Years Of Longing, The Firm, Failure To Launch, and Lemony Snicket’s A Series Of unfortunate Events. Well, FOX is still holding out on some decisions but announced a writer’s proof schedule full of reality TV. They even revived Kitchen Nightmares. NBC announced their fall lineup, which included a Season 2 renewal for Lopez V Lopez, and has left its remaining sitcoms (American Auto, Young Rock, and Grand Crew) on the bubble. NBC also surprisingly revived Transplant with a 2 season order (since the series comes from Canada), and pushed LaBrea’s tiny third (and likely final) season to mid season.
