What a disappointing day of TV. 13) The Crowded Room (Apple Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Limited So, the show is going to try and confuse you through poor direction and writing. Got it. If this turns out that he has a split personality disorder, and this is like identity, I’m calling it now. We open with a shooting, and then transition to Tom Holland sitting in an interrogation room, where he talks about his time in high school and buying weed. WHAT? Luckily, I love Holland, so I’ll give this one more episode, but that was an awful … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 07/09/23

Sex Education is ending with Season 4. I’m OK with that. It’s a show about High Schoolers. one of their main cast is now Doctor Who. And, several key cast aren’t coming back for the final season. Plus, for a show that should be relatively easy to shoot, it’s taking a really long time for this season to roll out. 13) Cheers (Paramount Plus) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended Let me tell you. This episode was a nail biter. i thought Sam was going to throw away everything to be arm candy for a political candidate. I’m glad we … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 07/06/23

We will not go quietly without a fight! Today, we celebrate, our Independence Day! If you have a little kid, show them that movie, and tell them it really happened, and that’s the reason we celebrate July 4th. Just as a little test. See if they believe you. Anyway, welcome to Earth! 16) The Adventures Of The Gummi Bears (Disney Plus) English Audio Description?: no Status: Ended well, I promised myself ten episodes of this series I loved as a kid, and part of some of these nostalgic trips is that not every show is hitting like i expected. Well, started off my morning with shitty news. Apple Plus has cancelled high Desert. honestly, I understand it. The pilot was off putting initially, but once you get past it, Patricia Arquette is doing a hell of a job keeping this thing together. And, Matt Dillon and Brad Garrett do a pretty decent job supporting her. I would have probably renewed this, and I’m sad to see this character go, but Apple released a lot of comedies in the Spring, and right after this was Platonic, which is a better show and really deserves a second season. Shrinking and The … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 07/01/23

Today, i plan on attending a virtual conference held by the ACB and the Audio Description project, in which I will get to hear representatives from streaming services talk about their commitment to Audio Description. I’m a little intrigued by Paramount Plus/Showtime, but I’m super excited to hear Hulu talk about how ‘committed” they are. Girl, you can’t even get AD onto a Hulu original like The Clearing. Come on now. 14) Ripley (PBS) English Audio Description?: No? Status: I don’t care. CBS already is talking about not being worried about next season as they have Paramount Plus shows to rely on. Meanwhile, since today is Wednesday, in the middle of June, I feel the need to point out that this is when ABC has decided to drop the second season of The Wonder Years. Clearly, it’s a burn off. With the writer’s strike, any sensible person would have accepted this moving to at least a late summer (August) launch so it could bleed into the beginning of the fall season and give ABC some fresh content. Maybe ABC is planning on … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 06/13/23

Well, the cancellation monster arrived at NBC yesterday and got rid of young Roc and Grand Crew. I believe that leaves only American Auto on the bubble. Meanwhile, ABC passed on all remaining pilots except The Good lawyer, which remains on the bubble with The Rookie Feds and Home Economics. They can extend the contracts past June, but they need to make decisions pretty quickly. 12) Clarissa Explains it All (Paramount Plus) English Audio Description?: no Status: Ended This trip down memory lane hasn’t quite worked out for me. Well, HBo cancelled Perry Mason after two seasons. What a shame. Honestly, they were trying to elevate it, but Perry Mason would be a lot better off as just a regular procedural on CBS. 12) Family Matters (MAX) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Ended That opening urkel joke was a groaner. Then, walking outside to tell your whole family not to drive this car, was like begging them to do so. Obviously, shenanigans were bound to happen. Well, the word came down the pike that The Winchesters is now officially dead, and no one wanted to save it. Probably a little too soon for a Supernatural reboot. 13) Dinosaurs (Disney Plus) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended This episode was dumb, as Earl focuses a lot on wanting to watch more TV, and win a big TV, and be on TV. The point of this episode was lost. Episode Grade: C- 12) Family Matters (HBo MAX) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Ended Man, urkel sounds really young. American idol crowned a winner last night. I’m watching it today. I know who won, and thank God. 15) Drops Of God (Apple Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Unknown This was an odd duck of a series.I’m not even really sure I understand what the show is about. There was a lot of focus on being able to taste really specific flavors immediately, and perhaps becoming a sommelier. But, I think of the new shows I watched, I enjoyed this one the least. Netflix has attempted its first upfront presentation, and to celebrate, they brought what they assumed were good tidings. Ginny and Georgia got a two season renewal, because certainly the world needed more of that. And, Virgin River got an early Season 6 renewal before Season 5 premieres. Also, Apple Plus announced that the upcoming third season of physical will be its last. 10) American idol (ABC/Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Renewed This Road To The Finale clip show was mostly a waste of time. Yesterday provided ample TV news. NBC announced their fall lineup, which included a Season 2 renewal for Lopez V Lopez, and has left its remaining sitcoms (American Auto, Young Rock, and Grand Crew) on the bubble. NBC also surprisingly revived Transplant with a 2 season order (since the series comes from Canada), and pushed LaBrea’s tiny third (and likely final) season to mid season. Meanwhile, The CW surprisingly rescued cancelled AMC drama 61st Street. I’m not sure why. I’m not sure anyone was asking for that. But this is the new CW, and by God, they will be irrelevant in … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/12/23

FOX has given a second season to the comedy Animal Control. Also, Disney is planning on merging Hulu into Disney Plus by the end of the year, and is currently in negotiations to buy out Comcast on their remaining shares. So your kids can watch Encanto and American Horror Story in one place! I have been integrating more and more reruns into my Lineup, a trend I’m personally enjoying. I’d rather continue to expand this way than spend more time stuck in series I’m not enjoying. A couple more interesting WGA Strike tidbits. The Rings Of Power was told to continue filming without it’s showrunners (who are WGA members, and on strike). So if you were concerned about the quality last season, this could either be a good or bad thing. Probably bad though. And Evil, which was finishing filming on its fourth season, ended up wrapping filming early because the strike was too disruptive. I don’t know how you end early in a positive way. I would assume that means scenes are not being shot. I would think that affects the continuity of the show. … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/07/23

I read an interesting news story that fans of Netflix shows have noticed that Netflix loves to cancel their product, and are now banding together to try and stop these cancellations. For example, there’s an entire subreddit devoted to Shadow and Bone where over 24K fans keep rewatching the show over and over to keep its numbers up. I wonder if just going to work, and leaving your Netflix running on Shadow and Bone couldn’t at least get you some hours in there. Also, Richard Dreyfuss did an interview where he wanted to know why he can’t play a black … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/06/23
