The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/21/23

Well, that Disney/Hulu pull list I mentioned earlier got a little shorter as the internet clapped back about one title Disney was planning on purging, the documentary Howard, which centers around the composer Howard Ashman who was instrumental in the revival of Disney, starting with The little Mermaid. Not only did it seem in poor taste to remove a documentary about an LGBT icon right before pride month, but also right before the live action adaptation of his work hits the big screen. So, Howard will not be pulled. 13) Great Expectations (Hulu) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Limited Series … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/21/23

Yesterday provided ample TV news. NBC announced their fall lineup, which included a Season 2 renewal for Lopez V Lopez, and has left its remaining sitcoms (American Auto, Young Rock, and Grand Crew) on the bubble. NBC also surprisingly revived Transplant with a 2 season order (since the series comes from Canada), and pushed LaBrea’s tiny third (and likely final) season to mid season. Meanwhile, The CW surprisingly rescued cancelled AMC drama 61st Street. I’m not sure why. I’m not sure anyone was asking for that. But this is the new CW, and by God, they will be irrelevant in … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/12/23

The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/05/23

Definitely some big TV news yesterday. Kevin Costner’s perpetual temper tantrum has turned into this being the final season of Yellowstone. However, they are planning on doing a sequel spinoff series starring Matthew McConaughey and many of the current Yellowstone cast. Also cancelled is CBS’s 6 season success story SWAT, which was cancelled over money squabbling between CBS and Sony. Despite the fact that SWAT has actually grown its audience the past couple seasons, it’s too expensive, and a deal could not be reached. Finally, FOX is no longer speaking with Mayim Bialik, as they have stopped Call Me kat … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/05/23

Because I always accept feedback, I’ll lead today with a correction. Yesterday, I mentioned that The Masked Singer was available on FOX/Hulu, and I labeled it without audio description. That’s not entirely true. The audio description is available for those willing to watch it live, however that audio description does not translate to on demand airings after that, for example on hulu, where I watched the show. I think we’re all getting a little tired of audio description that doesn’t travel. 11) Night Court (NBC/Peacock) English Audio Description?: Yes Everyone is excited about the possibility of being invited to an … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 04/28/23

The Too Much TV Roundup- 04/01/23

Lots of TV shows to discuss today. ABC has announced its plans to revive its TGIF lineup, with a mix of revivals and new series. First up, Melissa Joan hart is tapped to return as Sabrina, the 40-Something Witch, no other cast has been announced, though Caroline Rhea is expected to return since she hasn’t found anything to do since Match Game stopped making new episodes. The other show to anchor the lineup is Family Matters, taking a look at how Urkel and laura ended up with a family, and a set of kids that are mostly very different from … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 04/01/23

The Too Much TV Roundup- 03/05/23

So, the next week of this might seem a little sparse. It’s Oscar week, and I’m not going to cram as much TV into this coming week, instead, I’m trying to rewatch a few things, and maybe cram in a final film or two. Some shows will just have to take a week off from the roundup. Don’t worry, I still plan on getting some heavy hitters on this list. But, this is what I managed yesterday. 7) The Company You Keep (ABC) English Audio Description?: Yes Poor Milo. I know he thinks he left This Is us and transitioned … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 03/05/23

The Too Much TV Roundup- October 22nd

Good golly Miss molly. I finally reached the breaking point of audio description on one of these shows. But which one? And how high did it go? Last week, with audio description it managed a first place finish. Can it do that against seven shows that all had audio description? 8) Fire Country (CBS/Paramount Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes I’m glad that CBS seems to be sticking with audio description for now with their new big hit drama. My concern now is that the show is going to do exactly what I was afraid of in the pilot, and have … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- October 22nd

Seven shows to count down today. No heavy hitters to block the top spot. So who will it go to? 7) The Rookie: Feds (ABC/Hulu) English Audio Description?: Yes I’m a big fan of the original flagship show, so it will take a lot for me to stop watching this, but it just doesn’t have the same flavor. Sometimes, there really is magic in casting a perfect ensemble that balances itself out, and telling the stories with the whole group. Niecy Nash is hilarious, but sometimes she takes up the whole room, which is something Nathan Fillion doesn’t do on … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- October 15th

The Too Much TV Roundup- October 8th

It’s Saturday, which usually means I got a lot knocked off. 1) Solar Opposites (Hulu) English Audio Description?: Yes When pupa starts misbehaving and turns into a bratty teenager, the opposites had to figure out what the cause of all this was. But really, the inspired choice of a real life game of Hungry Hungry Hippos was the top of this. episode Grade: A 2) The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers (Disney Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes The Ducks continue to work out at this summer training camp in episodes released in October, which seems weird timing, but whatever. We find … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- October 8th

The Too Much TV Roundup- October 1st

Today I say goodbye to a show I’m certain would make my 100 list of my favorite shows of all time. We had quite a run. only three seasons, but those three were magnificent. So, of course, right on top… 1) Locke and key (Netflix) English Audio Description Available?: Yes I’m sad now. Not just because the show emotionally manipulated me with that time shift key one more time, but because this is it. The final episode. The Lockes defeated Gideon, and the only losses were a character we knew next to nothing about (RIP Gordy) and one who needed … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- October 1st
