The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/07/23 Dancing last night. Also, I hear we are shockingly close to a SAG deal as the studios have apparently given up on their AI battle.

11) Seaquest DSV (Peacock)

English Audio Description?: No

Status: Ended

I think I’ve given a few episodes a pass, as it is a bit easier being on a rewatch. but this episode focused quite a bit on a ghost ship, a diary, and possession? I’ll admit, when you throw ghosts and what I can assume was possession in the mix, it goes a little past being easy to just follow along.

Episode Grade: unwatchable

10) 911 (Hulu)

English Audio Description?: no

Status: Moving To ABC

Athena is on the hunt for who killed a neighbor that everyone hated, while her daughter catches and researches in time to stop a disgruntled employee from blowing up his old job. I think what was harder for me, was that during Athena’s case, I couldn’t pick up on visual cues that would help solve the mystery. That’s why this episode gets this grade.

Episode Grade: Unwatchable

9) Portlandia (AMC Plus)

English Audio Description?: No

Status: Ended

I think this show, which is mostly sketch-comedy style, is going to always be hit or miss based on the sketches. I thought the first episode was a lot funnier than Episode 2. But, that doesn’t mean I intend to stop watching.

8) Star Trek Lower Decks (Paramount Plus)

English Audio Description?: Yes

Status: Unknown

I believe it was Streisand who sang “People. people who eat people.”, and Lower Decks takes advantage of that with a weird alien plot this week. Not my favorite Lower Decks episode.

Episode Grade: B-

7) The Changeling (Apple Plus)

English Audio Description?: Yes

Status: Limited

Emma goes off to find her baby and finds the tethered living beneath the city. Not really, but there was a reference to mole people. This is just a bizarre series. There’s no way around that.

Episode Grade: B-

6) X-Men (Disney Plus)

English Audio Description?: No

Status: Ended

The gang realizes it’s Morph who is back in their lives, but still some members of the squad are left in danger. I had a hard time placing the mutants who were on Genosha when Cyclops and Jean arrived.

Episode Grade: B

5) The Other Black Girl (Hulu)

English Audio Description?: Yes

Status: unknown

Oh hell no. I knew the girl was weird, but the titular character is some time travelling troublemaker who hasn’t aged? What genre is this series!?

Episode Grade: B

4) Virgin River (Netflix)

English Audio Description?: Yes

Status: Renewed

Nothing else matters, except that kiss. Muriel and Cameron. Passionate kissing. Five seasons Muriel has hung around, waiting for someone to love her, and in walks the new town doctor, who is definitely younger, and the two of them are now wrapped in each others arms. Spin these two off into their own show immediately!

Episode Grade: B

3) All The Light We Cannot See (Netflix)

English Audio Description?: Yes

Status: Limited

Werner’s backstory. I still feel weird about this sympathetic nazi angle until I know where it is headed. But most of this episode is Werner, with Marie getting a little bit of screentime as she navigates home without her white cane. Mark Ruffalo continues with his bizarre accent.

Episode Grade: B

2) Silicon Valley (MAX)

English Audio Description?: Yes

Status: Ended

I’m glad I got started in this show. I’ve never watched it before, but it has a talented cast, and the first episode is funny. I’m not sure if we’re still talking about TJ Miller or not, but he seems the perfect choice for the role he was given.

Episode Grade: A-

1) Wilderness (Amazon)

English Audio Description?: Yes

Status: unknown

I can only assume that has to be the end. I know Limited series now get renewed even if they shouldn’t, but this is very much a show that should not have any more added to it. It finishes strong, and concludes as it should. I do not need further misadventures.
