Too Much- I will review this whole season, but for now, in the penultimate episode, Felix throws a wrench in the relationship. Is it something Jessica can get past in the season finale?

Building The Band- i apparently got the girl groups mixed up last episode, and somehow Allison’s group wasn’t in danger. She’s getting the worst edit and I’m not sure who she pissed off, but for her group to not be the first to go, i do wonder what else she’s got going on. I can’t see her winning. We even have to spend a chunk of time with her band mates having a come to Jesus with her about how she makes them feel. But these performances… shoutout to the AD team. They were tracking soloists, movement on the stage, trying to get some choreo in there, some costumes, I was really impressed given the format and the attempt to not talk on top of singing more than absolutely necessary.

The Buccaneers- now onto Season 2, and our intrepid bright young women continue their story. we learn the true story behind Nan’s parentage, and why her mom stepped in to begin with.James vows to find Ginny. This Ginny needs a Georgia willing to make death smoothies for her. The audio description is fine, but like I pointed out, I feel like we’re missing out on period opulence at times, though there was a smattering of that when Nan woke up a duchess. Now she has people who dress her. Most girls of this time period would kill for what she has.

Untamed- Eric Bana is still running around trying to figure out what happened to this dead girl, as we learn more about her past, why indigenous culture matters, and still aren’t sure what is up with the gold tattoos. There’s also another character roaming around asking questions about someone else who went missing years ago, and seems to be insinuating that the guy was never found because Bana was emotionally unavailable.

Washington Black- Hulu’s newest is based on a true story. Sterling K Brown is the biggest name here, but not really the lead. It follows the story of a young black man who escapes slavery in the 1800’s, and makes it all the way eventually to Nova Scotia. My initial thought is the show has some really nice audio description, and a lovely narrator. The acting is fine, and the story does start off feeling like a lot is happening. We even jump timelines. there’s a side character of this woman who travelled to Nova Scotia with her father, only to find out she’s being married off. This pilot isn’t so perfect it has you hooked for however many episodes ar ahead, but it feels like the possibility of a strong historical drama that could lend itself to some deep themes and character work for the cast.

Patience- i decided to finish off the season in case PBS disappears. A lovely show whose season finale has patience trying to save a friend from Anthrax. I’ve tried a few PBS shows over the years, and this is the one that has grabbed my attention the most… possibly ever. I will go ahead and gut check the audio description team on laziness. While admittedly it had no Bering on anything, it was really lazy to mention that the boy had a “reptile” on his shoulder. Come on now. you can’t distinguish what kind? Even a little? Would your audio description team ever be allowed to say “The boy is holding a mammal”? Too broad.

South Park- no audio description, but this Season Premiere, like the best of South Park, was straight up savage. trey Parker and Matt Stone are maybe the best satirists living. It wasn’t even all the Trump jokes.there were other little jokes, like the electric car, or the dig at Paramount/60 Minutes when they’re really afraid to report the news. Audio description would be nice, even if South Park does have short turnaround times. Not that I was dying for a description of the small penis, but they did actually show the penis. I read an article about this whole fight Parker and stone were having, before they got their new 1.5 billion deal, and they refused to have the cartoon tiny penis blurred out.

All Of Us Are Dead- That YouTuber actively choosing to check out a zombie infested city was one of the funniest things. I’m truly surprised they didn’t kill him instantly.

The Art Detectives- Still trying to make some statement about how Acorn could be doing audio description, and why. This is not the easiest or most rewarding watch without audio description. Episode 2 was the easiest to follow so far.

Who Wants to Be A Millionaire- if Ken Jennings doesn’t win, I’ll be shocked. he and Matt Damon provide the most interesting duo to open the new season. Spoiler: they don’t finish, because they know that pairing is gold, and they can stretch it to next week.

Say Something!
