Some shows coming up this week include Reacher (Amazon), Tires (Netflix), and a new Happy Madison film starring a Sandler child on Friday, along with the premiere of Girls like Girls on Peacock. It’s a slow week.

Dead City- AMC Plus failed once again to provide audio description for a show and episode tagged with AD. So, that’s the end of this mini-recap.

A Good Girls Guide To Murder- Here’s one. Poppy is trying to find her missing friend, while still wrap up the case with Max. Honestly, I don’t know why we continue to follow Max. Is he a signal about how privilege can have you get away with anything? The audio description here was fine, and the series is OK. Poppy got a bit too loud in court, but she’s a passionate podcaster.
The Westies- The crime drama pushes forward with lingering war between the Irish and Gotti. Considering he’s John Gotti, we know exactly how his story ends, so war with him feels like trouble for whoever is trapped in that situation. The AD here is OK. Not necessarily looking for new ways to broaden the series, but solid and functional.
Daemons Of The Shadow Realm- Global3 continues to produce well written TTS description for this, and the show isn’t quite as good as Witch HAt Atelier, but it is interesting, and feels trapped in world building. They inherent a young kid in this episode, who is wealthy, and possibly related to one of the gang.
The Five Star Weekend- Jennifer Garner’s new show is predictable but delightful. Yes, it hits you in the feels, and is cloaked in sadness, but a very talented cast with Garner, Regina Hall, Chloe Sevigny, Darcy Carden, and Gemma Chan elevate what could be a Virgin River spinoff with a lesser cast. Garner has a few friends in the broader cast, like Catch and Release co-star Timothy Olyphant and 13 Going On 30 co-star Judy Greer. The AD here is fan-fucking-tastic. The characters are very well described, and the track by IUNO seems to understand there are also living spaces to navigate. I’m pleasantly surprised, considering the crap Peacock has paid for in the past. This is a welcome change for them.
Best: The Five Star Weekend- By a landslide.
Worst- The Walkign Dead Dead City- Actually saved the synthetic Daemons, because the only thing more annoying than synthetic, or even no audio description at all, is labeling something as having audio description, and not providing it. That is the cardinal sin. I get my hopes up every week just to have my soul crushed.
