TV Shows Watched: The Shrouds: S1E1 (Disney Plus) with audio description, Tomb Raider King: S1E4 (CrunchyRoll) with audio description, Lucky: S1E6 (Apple) with audio description, Rick And Morty: S9E2 (HBO MAX) with audio description, and Oasis: S1E2 (Netflix) with audio description

The Shrouds- I actually started the day thinking I’d knock this series out either in full, or in part, but it is a miserable watch, so i couldn’t do it.The Troller is just such a disgusting distraction from an 80’s piece that could actuall have something to say about sexual fluidity from the eyes of Bret Easton Ellis. Instead, two women are killed, and their corpses are left behind with animal heads attached to them, in the weirdest fucking places too. The guy playing Bret, Igby Rigney, plays him like he’s incapable of emotion. I know it’s hard to believe, but Ryan Murphy used to make things that were good. The AD here was totally uncredited. No company, no narrator, nothing.

Tomb Raider King- Oh, now we just buy relics at auction? I love how this is basically a videogame. The way the power ups work, how you can summon things (as if you had access to an inventory like in a game). It was refreshing compared to The Shrouds, even with synthetic voice, because the writing is good, and the show doesn’t make me hate myself. Global 3, written by Melvina Babu.

Lucky- I feel like this has one hell of a finale in store. This sets that up, with lucky playing everyone like a fiddle. This is an excellent show with solid audio description from Pixel Logic.

Rick And Morty- More shenanigans. This recently got an extension from Adult Swim. It had previously been renewed through next season, but Adult Swim extended that to season 12. The AD here is really invested, and I like it.

Oasis- After the girl wakes up, she wonders what happens and the mystery builds around her and her friends at this resort. The series is OK so far, being a Spanish language drama that got dubbing and synthetic AD, produced by Descriptive Video Works. Another show I don’t have a problem with the writer, but it is clearly synthetic.

Best AD- Rick And Morty- I just think, even with adult animation being tough to nail, it really goes for it.I appreciate it.

Worst Overall- Two synthetic shows get a pass, because The Shrouds is awful. Not necessarily the audio description, but it is the kind of show that makes you reevaluate life in general. Luckily, the Shards is Rotten on the Tomatometer, so I’m not the only one deeply unimpressed.
