The Too Much TV Roundup- November 3rd

Six shows today. The number one was the easiest choice I had to make in a long time. 6) Star Trek: Lower Decks (Paramount Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes I mean, sure. But, the jokes weren’t earned. Not to spoil the joke, but two have two competing ships and memebers from them working on a common goal project, to have the members of the other ship be rude and dismissive, but then turn around later and say that they weren’t being that, they just think our Lower Decks team is awesome, and legendary, was… illogical, to paraphrase a Vulcan. They … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- November 3rd

The Too Much TV Roundup- November 2nd

Had a great time yesterday, and managed to knock out six shows. So, let’s talk about them. 6) The Patient (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Hlu’s persistence in not providing audio description for the remaining episodes (I’m even watching these late), is killing this show. Ironic, for a show about a serial killer, but irony is not Hulu’s strong suit. This episode featured long quiet moments where I couldn’t tell what was going on at all. There was a scene that featured Steve Carell’s character crying out, but I guess based on the reactions later on, that was a dream? … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- November 2nd

The Too Much TV Roundup- November 1st

We’re already at November? My God. You know, I saw a Christmas advertisement on Halloween? That’s a bit much, right? Now we’ll just leapfrog Thanksgiving, and it’s nothing but a steady barrage of holiday entertainment. SiriusXM launched all their Christmas music stations already to get the jump. Honestly, they have thousands of stations, I don’t know why they ever need to “launch” them. 7) Ms Scarlet and the Duke (PBS) English Audio Description?: No Wel, she got her ring back, but AT WHAT COST? Still wish this ran with audio description. I very much feel like this is a spectrum … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- November 1st

The Too Much TV Roundup- October 31st

So, what did i watch on Halloween night? This used to be a dead night for television as it was assumed people had other things to do. now everyone watches TV on demand, so they don’t even bother to run specials or reruns on Halloween anymore. Weird. The times we live in. 7) This Fool (Hulu) English Audio Description?: Yes Despite a silly title that was justified later in storytelling in a ridiculous manner, this birthday centric episode wasn’t as funny as last week, nor did it really make a ton of sense. This show still has it’s own charm, … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- October 31st

The Too Much TV Roundup- October 30th

Updated to ios 16, and I’m trying to get used to my new narrator voice. They totally eliminated my original one, so I’m just trying different ones to see what works. Kind of like how two new shows ended up on this list. Just trying out new things. 9) Fakes (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes I don’t know. The pilot was Ok. Nothing really jumped out at me. The show is a half-hour that centers on some teens who learn to make Fake ID’s. It wasn’t bad, but it did nothing to hook me. It’s a half hour, which usually … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- October 30th

The Too Much TV Roundup- October 29th

A slow Saturday, but I still managed four shows and a movie. Here’s how those four shows laid out. 4) Little Demon (FXX/Hulu) English Audio Description?: no I think the most frustrating thing about this show isn’t the content, which I’m sure turned away viewers, it’s that because FX slacks on AD, or Hulu refuses to use it (who knows), this show doesn’t have it. So, all of the absolutely crazy stuff that happens, regarding demons or demons using abilities, or even our main girl using her powers, a lot of that visual stuff is 100% lost on me. I’m … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- October 29th

The Too Much TV Roundup- October 27th

Getting back into the swing, I knocked out seven shows for your enjoyment. But really mine. Although, enjoyment really is a spectrum, isn’t it? 7) The Rookie: Feds (ABC/Hulu) English Audio description?: Yes This show, at times, has some really silly writing. Almost like it feels like a spoof of shows of this genre, or an SNL skit.We are only in the fifth episode, but already when I hear her making some connection to being a guidance counselor, it’s like the worlds worst running joke. This episode also amassed two strikes. The first came when a law enforcement officer unironically … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- October 27th

The Too Much TV Roundup- October 27th

After taking a day off to stand on a soap box (by the way, Paramount Plus never returned my call), we are back. With some shows. It’s what the RoundUp is for. 7) Maggie (Hulu) English Audio Description?: Yes Damn, Episode 12 and going? Did Maggie get a full season order? Well, the last few minutes of this episode were the best, where a secret was accidentally revealed to the wrong person. The next episode should be fun. Episode Grade: B 6) The Masked Singer (FOX/Hulu) English Audio Description? no? I’ve heard that this show has audio description, but whether … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- October 27th

The Too Much TV Roundup- October 26th

A few more shows today. Unfortunately, you won’t like my rankings. 8) Miss Scarlett and the Duke (PBS) English Audio Description?: No? It’s probably just me, but this show never has audio description, nor does anything on PBS. I’d love to know where all their audio description ends up, but that’s life. I’m starting to get to a point where my tolerance for non-described content is starting to be affected. Sure, a few shows remain at the top, and some I keep watching because they’ve been on so long that I was watching them pre-blindness, but that’s not the case … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- October 26th

The Too Much TV Roundup- October 24th

Only five shows today, I’m afraid. Spent the night watching a political debate. 5) The Great North (FOX) English Audio Description?: No Fortunately, even with five shows, this was a great day for TV. This is my lowest ranked episode, and it was actually quite perfect. The town wants to win a boat race, and they figure out that the hottest guy wins every year, so they carve a hot guy out of wood because no one in their town is hot enough. When this show is on point, it is on fire. Nice reference to Enough Said, as well … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- October 24th

The Too Much TV Roundup- October 23rd

I managed to squeeze in starting a few new series today. Sadly, not everything had audio description today. 8) Star Trek: Lower Decks (Paramount Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes The comedy version of Star Trek goes just far enough to be considered comedic, but not too far to be considered mocking the Trek universe. Maybe, it needs a little send up from time to time. I’ve been watching this for a few seasons, and it’s never been at the top of my list. it’s always just kind of sat here. Barely clinging on to my increasingly hard to maintain viewership. … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- October 23rd

The Too Much TV Roundup- October 22nd

Good golly Miss molly. I finally reached the breaking point of audio description on one of these shows. But which one? And how high did it go? Last week, with audio description it managed a first place finish. Can it do that against seven shows that all had audio description? 8) Fire Country (CBS/Paramount Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes I’m glad that CBS seems to be sticking with audio description for now with their new big hit drama. My concern now is that the show is going to do exactly what I was afraid of in the pilot, and have … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- October 22nd

The Too Much TV Roundup- October 21st

My shortest list of the week so far, but I did manage a movie, and a live theatre event. So, that’s where my time went. 5) Maggie (Hulu) English Audio Description?: Yes I really thought Hulu was going 10 episodes on this like they usually do, so I was surprised to see we are plowing past episode 10. It’s been a few months, and I don’t know if Hulu will stick with Maggie. They have a habit of cancelling sitcoms, or killing them on their second season (Dollface/Woke). So an episode about loss might be preparing us for inevitable cancellation. … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- October 21st

The Too Much TV Roundup- October 20th

Six shows enter. one will make the top. This is The Round Up. 6) The Masked Singer (FOX/Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Does anyone else find it incredibly reductive for an artist like the one eliminated last night, who is a legendary singer in her own right, to be eliminated immediately? This show has always had a problem with legends, as their older voice isn’t as popping as it once was. But throw her from her prime into this competition, and she would not have gone home. In some ways, The Masked Singer can’t figure out how to keep these … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- October 20th

The Too Much TV Roundup- October 19th

Once again, seven shows enter the Rounup… sort of. One gets a rather interesting grade. 7) The Magpie Murders (PBS) English Audio Description?: Not for me. As I mentioned, I do occasionally check out PBS fare, and even though I’ve heard rumors that these programs have audio description, it never exists for me. That being said, aside from a lack of audio description, I can’t actually grade this show. It put me right to sleep. I maybe watched five minutes, and I was out like a light. No idea what this show is about, or who murdered the magpie, but … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- October 19th
