The Too Much TV Roundup- October 27th

After taking a day off to stand on a soap box (by the way, Paramount Plus never returned my call), we are back. With some shows. It’s what the RoundUp is for.

7) Maggie (Hulu)

English Audio Description?: Yes

Damn, Episode 12 and going? Did Maggie get a full season order? Well, the last few minutes of this episode were the best, where a secret was accidentally revealed to the wrong person. The next episode should be fun.

Episode Grade: B

6) The Masked Singer (FOX/Hulu)

English Audio Description? no?

I’ve heard that this show has audio description, but whether I’m watching it live or on Hulu, it has never had it. But, this week I correctly predicted one of the newbies almost immediately. Like, from the clue package. And for a blind person who can’t see any of the visual clues, I felt like a God. Based on the clues for the other entry, I think I know who they are, but I also was surprised none of the judges guessed them. Hmmm.

Episode Grade: B+

5) This Fool (Hulu)

English Audio Description?: Yes

A show that is kind of surprising me. I’m liking it so far. Third episode centers around two stories, both centered on relationships with ex girlfriends. Both, hilariously odd.

Episode Grade: B+

4) The Connors (ABC/Hulu)

English Audio Description?: Lazy

This weeks episode of The Connors is fine. It is centered around Halloween, and ended with a nice look back at all the Halloween episodes of Roseanne and The Connors past. But, my problem is that the narrator incorrectly identifies Katey Sagal as Louis, instead of Louise. Something that is likely a script mistake by the writer. But there was no quality check. Even the narrator, who goes on to later correctly identify her didn’t think “Hey, maybe I messed up back there”. It was just really lazy.

Episode Grade: A, Audio Description: B-

3) Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous (Netflix)

English Audio Description: Yes

I felt the ire of those 13 moms that claim to be 1 Million moms when our favorite will they/won’t they characters decided to make it official in the 9th episode. But, this episode was mostly about preparing for Kenji’s return, and ended with Ben’s heartbreaking realization that Bumpy has been given an implant.

Episode Grade: A

2) Five Days At memorial (Apple Plus)

English Audio Description?: Yes

Maybe I’m getting the wrong idea from this show, but while I might not love the idea that a doctor administered potentially lethal doses of drugs to the few patients not evacuated, we need to go back to the previous episode when GI Asshole stormed the facility and said everyone would be removed by 5PM, but then put his useless dick away and left a bunch of people. Who the fuck is that guy? That guy is to blame. honestly, if everyone had actually BEEN evacuated like they were supposed to be, there would be less dead people. Maybe that’s not what I’m supposed to be learning from this, but with an episode still left, I’m not on the “Anna killed people” train. That other guy, he left people to die. Where is his reckoning?

Episode Grade: A

1) New Amsterdam (NBC/Peacock)

English Audio Description?: Yes

So, yes, this is an excellent show and I’ve even gotten used to the change in narrators. This week got me in the feels when Iggy was given a young deaf boy with no communication skills.. I wonder if the deaf doctor might factor in somehow… Hmmm…

Episode Grade: A
