Space Cadet

Emma Robert’s press tour for this was a nightmare. It’s never good to go out and talk about how film criticism has devolved before your film comes out, because it hasn’t. There are just more film critics. I can promise Emma, that if we went back to the simpler times, with eight critics as she remembers (which never happened in her lifetime), her Rotten Tomato score would still be zero. I look at this, and I wonder what Emma saw in it to defend it so much. The movie is based around a young woman (Robert’s) who once was super … Continue reading Space Cadet

Madame Webb

the internet certainly has an opinion on this film. It’s like a grand offense that occurred, the cinematic equivalent of slapping someone’s mother. But is it really? If you want to comb back through, you’ll see that I didn’t quite buy the doom and gloom of Morbius, if for no other reason than it was the most normal performance Jared Leto has ever given. But, Madame Webb also has moments where it clearly could have been at least a decent film. So, let’s break down the hate, and see if it’s warranted. but first, the audio description. Maybe I Do

Where I Watched it: hulu English Audio Description?: No What do you get when you pair Richard Gere, Diane Keaton, Susan Sarandon, William H. Macy, Ema Roberts, and Jake Lacy together in one film? You should get something amazing. Honestly, there is no real excuse. however, in the directorial debut from Michael Jacobs, who worked lot as a producer in the 90’s on shows like boy Meets World, we got the equivalent of a student film. i know this was probably made on favors and handshakes, and the bulk of the budget went to talent, but there’s no real excuse … Continue reading Maybe I Do

Scream 4

Where I Watched it: Paramount Plus English Audio Description?: No Scream 4 is kind of brilliant. It doesn’t have audio description, but I’ve been a fan of this since the beginning. Taking a leap forward in time, and bringing in a fresh cast, Scream 4 played off the rules set forth by a slew of horror remakes that came out in the 2000’s, as well as the rise of the torture porn sub genre started with Saw, and doing it all while feeling very much like a Scream movie. I’ve seen Scream 4 before several times, and since Scream 5 … Continue reading Scream 4
