2015 In Review: Drama TV Series

Yesterday, I discussed the Comedy series I watched in 2015. Here, my picks for Best Drama Series. Remember, I’m only listing the shows I watched in 2015. There are plenty of great shows that I didn’t see in 2015. This is based on my personal viewing schedule.

I consider Orange Is The New Black a drama. I’ve picked Selenis Leyva, Taryn Manning, and Kate Mulgrew from Orange Is The New Black. All three stood out this season, even though it’s hard to stand out in such an amazing cast. I felt bad leaving a few out, namely Lea DeLaria, who also did a great job this season, and Samira Wiley, who consistently does great work. I also picked Lena Headey from Game Of Thrones and Melissa McBride from The Walking Dead.

WINNER: Lena Headey, Game Of Thrones

I picked the underrated Michael Harney from Orange Is The New Black, Ben Mendelsohn from Bloodline, Peter Dinklage from Game Of Thrones, and David Tennant from Jessica Jones. My final spot was between a few (including Vincent D’Onofrio from Daredevil and Jussie Smollett from Empire), and I picked John Karna from Scream. His Noah turned into my favorite character of the show, and I know it’s a radical pick, but I wanted Scream to be represented somehow. It was one of the best things I saw over the summer. But, in the end, there was really only one truly great performance that was far and away above the rest.

WINNER: David Tennant, Jessica Jones

Easily predictable. I chose Taraji P Henson from Empire, Viola Davis from How To Get Away With Murder, Kerry Washington from Scandal, Felicity Huffman from American Crime, and Krysten Ritter from Jessica Jones. All five were great last year. I probably also need to watch Orphan Black. I picked the girl who gave an incredibly realistic portrayal of a girl recovering from an awful relationship. Oh, and she’s a total badass.

WINNER: Krysten Ritter, Jessica Jones

Another name you won’t see a lot on these lists, Grant Gustin for The Flash, along with Oscar Issac for Show Me A Hero, Andrew Lincoln for The Walking Dead, Timothy Hutton from American Crime, and Terrence Howard for Empire. Honorable mentions to Kyle Chandler from Bloodline and Tony Goldwyn from Scandal. But, my pick for the win is…

WINNER: Andrew Lincoln, The Walking Dead

Orange Is The New Black
Jessica Jones
The Walking Dead

WINNER: Jessica Jones
