The Too Much TV Roundup- October 7th

Just another day sliding through episodes of TV shows.

1) The Rings Of power (Amazon)

English Audio Description?: Yes

in the 6th episode, we focused primarily on one topic, which meant we didn’t even visit certain storylines. The refugees were about to go into battle with the orcs, who are being led by an Elf that has felt the dark side. It’s a pretty action packed hour of television, that eventually results in the merging of two groups, meaning less hopping around in the future. Hopefully.

Episode Grade: A

2) Five Days At Memorial (Apple Plus)

English Audio Description?: Yes

now shit is getting real. The flood waters are coming, and the hospital staff is trying their best to keep everyone safe and alive. They work with the national guard to evacuate babies and patients who need electrical currents to survive. But the national guard doesn’t take as many as promised, and the helicopters are slow at returning. This is how people die. Meanwhile, a corporate guy in Dallas is trying the best way he knows how to get them help, and some people from another town showed up to join the rescue efforts just to find out they aren’t even being used.

Episode Grade: A

3) Home Economics

English Audio Description?: Lazy

I mean, technically someone added audio description to this. But, he barely spoke. I actually didn’t realize this was described, since it took a few minutes for him to chime in, and most of the episode is without nary an attempt at an interjection. Some of the least helpful AD I’ve come across. The episode, about Connor being pushed to his limits by hosing his entire family, was fun enough.

Episode Grade: A-

4) The Old Man (FX/Hulu)

English Audio Description?: Yes

In the fifth episode, the characters had richer structures given to their characters as we slowed things down a bit. The dogs had to be boarded, which made me sad, cause those dogs are awesome. Really, I enjoyed the dynamic on John Lithgow’s side a lot, as his character is complex too, and he’s giving a great performance as well.

Episode Grade: A-

5) The Resort (Peacock)

English Audio Description?: Yes

This show is getting weirder by the moment. I’ve reached that point where I can tell that this show has become something else entirely, and talking about it would ruin the evolution of the show. If you were thinking about watching this, try not to let it get spoiled for you, because I never thought we’d be here, in this place. Very transformative.

Episode Grade: A-

6) Virgin River (Netflix)

English Audio Description?: Yes

OK, so the Season Finale rebounded, and did what a Season Finale should do. It dropped bombs, left cliffhangers, and made you sad that you have to wait a year for the next season. Season 5 is going to be a wild ride. Not really. nothing in Virgin River is ever wild.

Episode Grade: B+
