Disney Plus pulled the plug on The Spiderwick Chronicles TV show. It’s like, they say they want shows beyond just Marvel and Star Wars, but after cancelling Doogie yesterday, and not moving forward with this… do they? What is the actual plan here to not just fill your streaming service with franchise extensions from those two universes? Hell, I haven’t even heard if there will be a second season of Monsters At Work, which really felt like a no brainer.

you know when Anthony, who is usually just there for tokenism, has the best storyline, that the episode fell flat. He finally gets a Gold credit card, and decides to go live the semi-charmed life he’s always wanted. It’s just a credit card. Massive spending just puts you in debt.

Fran tries to work outside the house. After the previous episode on Sexual Harassment, I’m beginning to think that Season 2 of this show added female writers to the writers room. Sadly, it just didn’t land the same. Punch as the previous episode.

I’m still in Season 2. Bender gets mixed up in the mob, and I still think this show needs audio description.

10) My Adventures With Superman (MAX)

I don’t get this show or who it is aimed for. It’s not comedic enough to be targeting the adult swim crowd, but at the same time, it isn’t made for the little ones. It’s trying to be subversive enough, without ever offending anyone. It’s basically losing my interest. I do like the random villain of the week mentions, but this might not finish with me.

9) The Summer I Turned Pretty (Amazon)

Well, i now really need to see the third episode to know what the hell is going on with the house getting sold. But, this episode is a mess. Steven wakes up with his hangover, which his mom seems oddly cool with, and even has a hangover remedy. There’s this car breakdown which seems to serve only as an opportunity for two characters to work their shit out. And whatever music that was playing when the sex scene occurred was so far removed from anything else in the entire episode it was distracting. is it too much to hope for a score or collection of music that feels consistent?

Always, there are cool things happening. I never fully understand this, nor do I come close most of the time. This show is so complex, I feel Ike I need to hire a tutor. I don’t know how this show has a big following, because I’ve heard the same complaint.

This just is not DopeSick. It’s so odd, since I’ve seen most of what Peter Berg has directed, and this just feels like they were rushing to make a project to compete with DopeSick. Yeah, there are some moments that work in the third episode, because this crisis has such a magnitude to it that just putting it on camera can be effective. Like, the end of Spotlight is just a bunch of names of Parishes. That was impactful in and of itself. I still need more.

6) The Lincoln Lawyer (Netflix)
English Audio Description?: Ummm… About that
Status: Surprisingly, Not Yet Renewed
I’m docking this because of the audio description. This is S2E8, where Mickey is in the middle of a case, but has time to allow his friends and family to throw him a birthday party. This introduces his mom to us, and she speaks predominantly in Spanish. I hope you are bilingual, because with the exception of one of the exchanges, the narrator and AD team do not give a fuck if you understand what is being said. I was able to pick up some words, like Mickey making a reference to “mal tiempo”, or bad weather, but I’m not fluent… and if the sighted audience got subtitles (which I’ve been told exist), then that dialogue should have been dubbed.

The cousins get caught in a bank robbery, and one of them starts helping out the robber, because…? The best part of the episode was the whole hostage negotiator thing, with the New York accent, and the bit about trying to stretch this out so they can get overtime. It’s a Part 1 episode.

I’m conflicted on her seeing her ex this early in the series, but hauling away the Japanese toilet maybe neutralized an exchange I didn’t want to see happen. Why couldn’t this have just been about the dog wedding? Although, Malik’s advancement of his relationship was a nice side-story.

Tom accidentally is involved in the death of a motivational speaker, which leads him to be the best bassoonist he can be. but who only learns one song? And the second episode, Tom basically ruins lives some more. I love this show.

God this show is hilarious. The dialogue is so well written. Selina is tasked with going down to a pork roast, at the same time her daughter wrote a piece for a class that criticized Israel, for which she would not apologize.

Finally made it to the Season 1 finale. All the stops are pulled out, people die, a shocking secret is revealed, and someone gets kidnapped.I love this episode so much, I’m even going to overlook the fact that Tai’s wife just happened to find a crawl space this episode. I assume they have been living in that house for a few years. And she finds it now?
