The Too Much Tv Roundup- 12/26/23

Apparently Percy Jackson is doing solid numbers for Disney. Over 13M in the first week. Maybe the series will survive.

1) Bodies (Netflix)

English Audio Description?: Yes

Status: Limited

I may not always know what is going on, but as the series moves forward the series has intrigued me a lot. By episode 5, things are really starting to come together, and you can see characters understand what is going on.

Episode Grade: B+

2) Monarch (Apple Plus)

English Audio Description?: Yes

Narrated By: Jedidiah Barton

Status: Unknown

Our characters find themselves really trapped in the freezing tundra being chased by a Titan. is the dad still alive? Will Monarch rescue them? Will May die of hypothermia?

Episode Grade: B+

3) The Curse (Paramount Plus)

English Audio Description?: Yes

Narrated By: Paula Hoffman

Status: Limited

They find the family again and Now we start to find out more about this actual Curse, and i gotta say, watching Whitney and her dopey husband navigating this series isn’t as interesting as one may think. Benny Saftee is great at playing someone you don’t like, but I’m not sure I like anyone here. Whitney still has some glimpses that she could be redeemed if she can just learn how.An odd series, to be sure.

Episode Grade: B

4) Far Away Downs (Hulu)

English Audio Description?: Yes

Status: Limited

Jackman’s character returns to find out what happened while he was away, and a tragic loss hits Far Away Downs. The little kid in this is really good, but the hilarious thing is thinking about when this film came out and realizing he’s somewhere in his late 20’s by now.

Episode Grade:B+

5) Invincible (Amazon)

English Audio Description?: Yes

Status: Sometimes, I think there’s too much happening in this series. The voice over work is really good though. But, there are just a lot of characters and Mark doesn’t always feel like the lead.

Episode Grade: B+

6) Hey Dude (Paramount Plus)

English Audio Description?: No

Status: Ended

Just a friendly reminder that Paramount has a lot of old nick content, in this episode where people cannot figure out how to get two individuals out of handcuffs, and because it’s a TV series, they don’t figure out things like… how to use the bathroom together.

Episode Grade: C+

7) The Guilded Age (MAX)

English Audio Description?: Yes

Status: Not Yet Renewed

I totally thought this series might mow down all those striking workers. It doesn’t feel like the logical choice for this show, but the fact that it was on the table concerned me. Luckily, this show remains fluffy.

Episode Grade: B-

8) Frasier (Paramount Plus)

English Audio Description?: Yes

Status: Renewed?

The Christmas episode of the new series is the one where Roz cameos. Frasier tries to throw a Christmas party, to absurd results. He literally got every aspect of the party wrong. I want to give this episode a higher grade to support having more Peri Gilpin, but Frasier’s “I can’t see the florist for the trees” line wasn’t as cute as they thought it was.

Episode Grade: B+

9) Young Sheldon (MAX)

English Audio Description?: Yes

Status: Final Season

I’m still in Season 2, but oddly the episode where Sheldon gets his gallbladder removed was the most entertaining thing i watched all day. It felt like the show, the writing was crisp, and I even was concerned that Sheldon’s roommate might not make it through his surgery.

Episode Grade: A-
