Apparently Percy Jackson is doing solid numbers for Disney. Over 13M in the first week. Maybe the series will survive. 1) Bodies (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Limited I may not always know what is going on, but as the series moves forward the series has intrigued me a lot. By episode 5, things are really starting to come together, and you can see characters understand what is going on. HUGE TV news that was like a stake to my heart. This upcoming season of What We do In The Shadows will be its last. However, My Life With The Walter Boys (which is so totally on brand for Netflix) has already been renewed for a second season. 1) Everything Now (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Unknown Another trigger warning, and this episode is great for expanding Mia’s brother. He has feelings too, and he’s barely had anything to do. Well, he’s greatly expanded after this episode. Sometimes, I forgot she had a brother. Woke up to the tributes pouring in for Andre Braugher, who passed away at the age of just 61. He was such a brilliant actor, who could handle drama and comedy. I’m not going to lie and talk about how his performance on Homicide changed my life. I was young, and I never watched Homicide (or NYPD Blue for that matter). I think my favorite performance of his is as the Captain on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, as the seemingly normal one, who as you continued on with the series learned more and more about how eclectic he really was to match … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 12/12/23

The cancellation sword is still swinging, as AMC inexplicably cancelled Lucky Hank after one season, and ABC is slowly purging Seattle Grace, with the announcement that Season 7 is the final season of Station 19. So, not a great news day for TV fans. Also, RIP to Ryan O’Neal, who was a fantastic actor (watch Paper moon), and a sexy 70’s icon. 1) Beckham (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Limited We look at Beckham growing as a parent, and also making a tough choice to move to Spain from England to play ball. Well, in TV news, John Oliver inked a 3 year renewal for Last Week Tonight with HBO. The Traitors: UK is nearing a premiere date. Someone marvelous won Dancing With The Stars. The Critics Choice nominations were so interesting for the TV nominees this year. Ramon Rodriguez slid in for Will Trent over more obvious performers like Brian Cox for Succession. The actresses nominated for Fall Of the House Of usher would not have been my go to nominees. It’s very sad that Mark Hamill was snubbed for that series. I didn’t watch the parade. I broke the Thanksgiving rule. I just wasn’t in the mood. However, I did vegetate a lot in front of the TV. Took a nap. The usual. 1) Everything now (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Not Yet Renewed Nothing says Thanksgiving quite like watching a show about a girl with an eating disorder. But, in the third episode, our lead Mia spends most of the episode in her feelings for this girl she likes, only for the episode to once again not turn out the way she expected. Did you watch any programming themed for Veteran’s Day yesterday? Or, were you like me, just catching up? 11) Hey Dude (Paramount Plus) English Audio Description?: no Status: Ended A cringeworthy episode where Ted is tasked with monitoring water usage, and asks his Native American friend Danny if he can do a rain dance. When Danny says he doesn’t know how, Ted says it’s easy and just does one. Later, this 80’s kids comedy does make a point of mentioning that this is offensive, but it also spends more time invested on Danny trying to figure out how to do … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/11/23

A couple of things. It’s like these companies were waiting for the strike to end to start their bad behavior. Immediately following news of the strike ending, Warner Bros celebrated by totally and permanently shelving Coyote Vs Acme, another finished feature project, and using it as a tax write-off. So, once again, a ton of artists worked on a film for months, just so it can live forever in a closet. Also, the new trailer for Echo dropped, and it’s going to be TV-MA. 9) The Gold (Paramount Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Limited? in what should have been a movie, we slowly build to the police making their case and being able to arrest people for the heist. I know he has fans. I know he’s not really from my generation. He actually was fine in Cassandro. But, I didn’t think Bad Bunny was funny. It’s not TV news, but I’m pretty excited that michael Mann’s next movie is Heat 2. I’m less excited that he’s expressing interest in Adam Driver. part of what made the first film so great was that it put Pacino against DeNiro, and there just really isn’t anyone for Driver to go up against. While I’m unfamiliar with the screenplay, I think you have to go with some kind of pairing that is relative to that experience. I wonder what social media is going to do to all the actors who wrote in letters of support for Danny Masterson. It’s not a great look right now for several of his former cast mates, as well as some random names like Giovanni Ribisi and Jonathan Tucker. i think what is truly telling is that not all of the cast did write letters. Topher Grace, Laura Prepon, and Wilmer Valderrama apparently had better sense. 10) Justified (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Revival Recently Ended Season 3 finale. I read an interesting news story that fans of Netflix shows have noticed that Netflix loves to cancel their product, and are now banding together to try and stop these cancellations. For example, there’s an entire subreddit devoted to Shadow and Bone where over 24K fans keep rewatching the show over and over to keep its numbers up. I did squeez in a movie in and around all of these TV shows. On a side note, yesterday was a brutal red wedding for TV shows (and decisions still need to be made by ABC and fOX).
