The Too Much TV Roundup- 06/12/23

Well, The CW finally made some choices. They’ve axed Gotham knights, but are keeping All American homecoming and Superman and Lois. Also, heartbreaking news that Treat Williams was killed in a motorcycle accident at the age of 71. Those who check out the roundup semi-frequently might have noticed I’ve been rewatching Everwood. He will always be Dr. Andy Brown for me. Since I’ve started rewatching the show, I’ve lost two Everwood cast members. Maybe I should stop before I lose another one. 12) Dinosaurs (Disney Plus) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended On a day of really pretty good TV, … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 06/12/23

Well, HBo cancelled Perry Mason after two seasons. What a shame. Honestly, they were trying to elevate it, but Perry Mason would be a lot better off as just a regular procedural on CBS. 12) Family Matters (MAX) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Ended That opening urkel joke was a groaner. Then, walking outside to tell your whole family not to drive this car, was like begging them to do so. Obviously, shenanigans were bound to happen. Episode Grade: C+ 11) Dinosaurs (Disney plus) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended Robbie doesn’t know if he wants to be a carnivore or … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 06/06/23

Well, the word came down the pike that The Winchesters is now officially dead, and no one wanted to save it. Probably a little too soon for a Supernatural reboot. 13) Dinosaurs (Disney Plus) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended This episode was dumb, as Earl focuses a lot on wanting to watch more TV, and win a big TV, and be on TV. The point of this episode was lost. Episode Grade: C- 12) Family Matters (HBo MAX) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Ended Man, urkel sounds really young. But, I finally got to the first episode of the … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 06/02/2023

I watched way too much TV yesterday. i know a lot of these are half hours, but even for me. My God. Wow. 16) Saint X (Hulu) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Not Yet Renewed You know, this was one of the first things I watched, and I can’t remember anything about it. It’s the second episode, and I remember there’s a mystery around a murdered girl, and the show is on an island. I got very little beyond that. It wasn’t bad enough for me to remember hating it, it’s just mediocre enough for me to not care. Episode … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/29/23

I did not plan this today. But i watched a new episode of Citadel the same day Amazon greenlit a second season. So that is my big TV news story to rock your world this morning. 12) All In The Family (FreeVee) English audio Description?: No Status: Ended Other than remembering Rob Reiner yelling about his Polish heritage at one point, my sleep last night completely erased what this episode was about. Occasionally that’s a problem with a show when i watch this much stuff in one day. Episode Grade: ? 11) Futurama (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Revived … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/25/23

Yesterday provided ample TV news. NBC announced their fall lineup, which included a Season 2 renewal for Lopez V Lopez, and has left its remaining sitcoms (American Auto, Young Rock, and Grand Crew) on the bubble. NBC also surprisingly revived Transplant with a 2 season order (since the series comes from Canada), and pushed LaBrea’s tiny third (and likely final) season to mid season. Meanwhile, The CW surprisingly rescued cancelled AMC drama 61st Street. I’m not sure why. I’m not sure anyone was asking for that. But this is the new CW, and by God, they will be irrelevant in … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/12/23

I read an interesting news story that fans of Netflix shows have noticed that Netflix loves to cancel their product, and are now banding together to try and stop these cancellations. For example, there’s an entire subreddit devoted to Shadow and Bone where over 24K fans keep rewatching the show over and over to keep its numbers up. I wonder if just going to work, and leaving your Netflix running on Shadow and Bone couldn’t at least get you some hours in there. Also, Richard Dreyfuss did an interview where he wanted to know why he can’t play a black … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/06/23

You know what today is. It’s the day we are all supposed to post that Justin Timberlake/*NSYNC meme “It’s Gonna Be May”. Don’t worry. I’m here to remind you of useless knowledge to keep your socials on fleek. Also, no one says “on fleek” anymore. 11) history of The World Part 2 (hulu) English Audio Description?: Yes I really feel like someone who is not Mel Brooks wrote the script, had Mel brooks look at it, and possibly punch it up a bit, and then he gave it his blessing. There are so many jokes here that fall flat and … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 04/29/23

The Too Much TV Roundup- January 2nd

A day where I watched a lot of TV, but surprisingly none of it reached the top grade level. And at least one show has totally lost my interest. 1) Stranger Things (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes I don’t know what it says that the 3rd episode of the season, the slowest so far, and my least favorite, still managed to rank at the top of all the episodes. I watched a very odd batch of TV, most of it let me down in some way. That ending though. All I can say is, don’t you fucking dare. Don’t you … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- January 2nd

Yesterday was a big day for TV shows. I only had one final Star Wars film to knock off the list, so i could finally dive into the long waited Obi Wan kenobi and Stranger Things debuts. But where did they end up on the list? 1) Stranger Things (Netflix) English Audio Description Available?: Yes In the Season 4 premiere, the long awaited return was very much worth the wait. Even though it hasn’t been that long since the last time these kids were together, they’re now navigating high school and popularity contests, which you would think is easier than … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- May 27th

Yesterday was definitely a much better day in terms of the quality of programming watched. Coming up with who gets the top spot was actually a challenge. 1) Julia (HBOMAX) English Audio Description Available: Yes Ultimately, I chose Julia, whose first season was a pleasant surprise on many levels. And since this was the season finale, and the other contenders for the top spot were not quite there yet, I landed on Julia, which will be returning for a second season. Sarah Lancashire needs to be a serious contender for a nomination this year, as well as David Hyde Pierce … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- May 24th

Yesterday, I watched quite a bit of non-described programming with my mom, who tries her best to let me know what’s happening. But, there’s a very small overlap in the Venn Diagram of shows we both enjoy. Here are my rankings from yesterday. 1) Hacks (HBO MAX) English Audio Description Available?: Yes Kicking off Season 2 officially, this series is just as hilarious as ever, and jean smart is living the role of her lifetime. Hopefully, this show wil stay on as long as the writing is good. Episode Grade: A 2) The Marvelous Ms Maisel (Amazon) English Audio Description … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- May 21st

Welcome back to some quick rankings and reviews of the shows I’m watching, and where they are landing on my list.As always, those without audio description will be noted. 1) The Rookie (ABC/Hulu) English Audio Description Available?: Yes I love the guy that does the narration for this. I don’t know who it is because what’s listed at the very beginning sound like two corporations, and not a guy. But whoever he is, he has made this season of The Rookie so entertaining. He reads everything with a level of excitement that makes you feel like you’re watching a show … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- May 17th

Actually, I’m trying to make sure I actually remember everything I actually watched yesterday. it was a lot, and I didn’t write anything down, because I thought my memory could sustain a 24 hour period. I think this is it. I think. 1) Better Call Saul (AMC/Netflix) English Audio Description: On Netflix I’m actually catching up still on Season 5, since Netflix and AMC in their infinite wisdom waited until right before Season 6 dropped to release Season 5 on Netflix. Frustrating, I know, but this show doesn’t run with audio description on AMC, so perhaps, I’ll just wait for … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- May 13th

I did squeez in a movie in and around all of these TV shows. On a side note, yesterday was a brutal red wedding for TV shows (and decisions still need to be made by ABC and fOX). CBS has said goodbye to Magnum PI, The United States Of Al, Be Positive, How We Roll, and Good Sam. (If I could save one of those five, it would be The United States of Al, though CBS is cutting back on comedies altogether, ordering no new sitcoms, and returning next year with just the four returnees). NBC cancelled The Endgame, Mr … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- May 12th
