Yesterday, I talked about the renewal of one show and realized that I completely skipped over another renewal, which was Imperfect Women on Apple TV. This surprised me because it really isn’t a show that needs a second season, and it falls right in line with the ongoing trend of making me wonder why we even bother labeling things limited series anymore. The Small Screen Diaries: 09/24/26

I think the biggest, and really only relevant, TV news to kick this off today is the fact that Netflix has once again proven the term “limited series” means absolutely nothing. They have picked up The Beast in Me for a second season. Originally billed as a limited series, the show is coming back with Claire Danes set to return as Aggie Wiggs following her Emmy-nominated work in the first season. The Small Screen Diaries: 09/22/26

Kicking off today, I continued with Furious, season one, episode two, which is available on Hulu and through Disney+ with Hulu, with audio description. This definitely is a winner. I can understand a bit more now as to why it has become a breakout hit. Lola Petticrew is still captivating here as this killer with a sympathetic angle, allowing you to follow her as a protagonist instead of purely as an antagonist. Disney Plus and hulu are dropping several shows from their services here in a few days, so if you hadn’t finished any of these shows: Willow, Big Shot, The mysterious Benedict Society, Turner and hooch, The World According To Jeff Goldblum, Maggie, Pistol, y The Last Man, Little Demon, Dollface, or any of the movies or specials disappearing with them, now would be the time to catch up. I would recommend a binge of Big Shot if you never got to see it. Netflix has attempted its first upfront presentation, and to celebrate, they brought what they assumed were good tidings. Ginny and Georgia got a two season renewal, because certainly the world needed more of that. And, Virgin River got an early Season 6 renewal before Season 5 premieres. Well, ABC certainly had a big day. in general, all of Disney did. Disney Plus even made some big date announcements, putting Loki Season 2 in October and Echo in November. But, over at ABC, they have enough unscripted content to make the fall interesting. Not only is Dancing With The Stars back, but they’re changing the Bachelor format this year to feature The Golden Bachelor, for women of a certain age. joining the ranks of cancelled series are The Winchesters (which is being shopped to other networks and streaming services) as well as Kung Fu. Basically, The CW no longer exists. FOX has given a second season to the comedy Animal Control. Also, Disney is planning on merging Hulu into Disney Plus by the end of the year, and is currently in negotiations to buy out Comcast on their remaining shares. So your kids can watch Encanto and American Horror Story in one place! I have been integrating more and more reruns into my Lineup, a trend I’m personally enjoying. Well, CBS picked up the dramas I predicted, Matlock and Elzabeth as well as the Wayans family sitcom. Also, The CW renewed Walker, but cancelled Walker independence.
