A little early for me, but don’t worry, I watched a ton of TV today, and I’m too busy to post this tomorrow morning.
1) Trying (Apple Plus)
English Audio Description?: Yes
This. Season. Premiere. Was. Everything! Where Breeders may be a more dramatic cynical look at raising a family, Trying has focused on the happier moments, pushing that our main couple really is trying. What I loved so much about this episode was that all of their family came together when they found out that only one of the new kids was staying. And while our leads were off trying to give the little boy the best day of his life, their families came together to fight the idea that this home and this family couldn’t take care of him. For anyone involved with adoption, or interested in it, this episode will melt your heart. Possibly the best episode of the series thus far.

2) Blackbird (Apple Plus)
English Audio Description?: Yes
Apple really hit it out of the park this morning. As the case continued to develop, and Taron Edgerton headed in to spy, it became clear to the audience that this Larry is a bad dude. Yet some people keep thinking he’s too simple to have done it. He knew things that weren’t released to anyone, details he could have only known if he was the killer. How his character is getting an appeal is beyond me.

3) The Sandman (Netflix)
English Audio Description?: Yes
So there were some really cool moments in this. Lots of them. But, as someone who watches a lot of media, I just couldn’t get past the Johanna Constantine thing… and then she also sends demons back to hell. I thought Neil Gaiman was all about originality. This story has already been told before. Why are we repurposing it for The Sandman?

4) Reservation Dogs (hulu)
English Audio Description?: Yes
Right now, I’m starting from scratch. I watched Season 1 when it came out, but since that point, Hulu went back and added audio description. Before launching into a second season of a show I was only half heartedly excited about, I thought I’d see if the AD changed the game. It does. Much better this time around. Thank God for audio description.

5) Tales Of The Walking Dead (AMC)
English Audio Description?: no
It was a little hard to follow. However, I think the concept could allow for me to enjoy my Walking Dead universe in short form without needing to invest in the story over time. The first episode, featuring Terry Crrews and Olivia Munn, was alright. It had more promise than it actually paid off. I know opening a new series like this is tough, but I might have made a few different choices. that, and Crews and munn have no chemistry.

6) Resident Evil (Netflix)
English Audio Description?: Yes
in the 7th episode, shit starts getting weird. Jade finds herself no longer with her ability to be a bad luck charm and instantly kill everyone with her presence. Meanwhile, Billie isn’t as nice as last time. There’s a clone of Lance Reddick that’s a total nut job, and a crocodile as big as a whale? I think the first season is only eight episodes, meaning the next one will be insane.

7) Pretty Little liars: Original Sin (HBo MAX)
English Audio Description?: Yes
I admit to having never seen the original series. So, my opinion here is that we have a *ton* of potential. The show, when it’s not too busy trying to be trashy, is fully capable of introducing a plot, imminent danger, and characters. Thrown in around that, is a catalyst beginning that makes no sense, a first kill that happens seemingly in the most improbably quick way possible, and an aggressive attempt at cheap jump scares. To the producers, you actually have the makings of a solid show here. But your director is ass. Stop hiring ass directors.

8) Boo Bitch (Netflix)
English Audio description?: Yes
Ugh. What is this? Thank God it’s a limited series, and each episode is a half hour. This show is so loud and obnoxious at the beginning that it takes a while to even separate characters and start to figure out who is who, and by the time you do, the first episode is over. Yes, it ends on a cliffhanger, but other than wanting to know what the hell is up, this cast and writing would not normally get me back another time. That cliffhanger is the only reason I’m coming back.

9) Rap Shit (HBO MAX)
English Audio Description?: Yes
I only got through 2 seasons of Insecure. i eventually figured out the show just wasn’t meant for me. i could tell Issa Rae was talented, but somehow I couldn’t connect to the material. Rap Shit, at least the pilot, is nowhere near as clever as insecure, which truly did have something to say. The most interesting thing about this show is the rapping. The characters and the plot all got a little lost in a rather unfocused pilot that was trying too hard to do too much. It did remind me that sadly Queens is no more, and for a show about female rappers, right now Queens wins that battle by several miles.
