The Sandman- A. Funeral for a dream. I don’t know what they possibly could be doing in the next episode that this one wasn’t the series finale, but this felt like everyone was saying goodbye, like you do in a finale. This episode was beautifully done, and I love how Fiddler’s Green reminded the new Dream that he is the new dream, and by resurrecting what used to be, he is doing them and himself a disservice. Some really nice beats here, and solid audio description.
From- Tabitha talks to the one man who might have answers for her, if he can believe her story. And, meanwhile, the entire episode is basically a funeral for the major death from the previous episode. Lots of very somber beats, and a terrific performance from Ricky Hee. The audio description used every opportunity it could to pull the horror out of the situation, by capturing both the flashback, and the mangled corpse every time it was shown.
Chief Of War- It’s losing my attention, but the audio description is great. I did really love the breakdown of Ohana, and what it means. I thought it meant family, and that family means no one gets left behind. This show has a slightly different take, though family is a huge part of it. Might I suggest to Vin Diesel that his final Fast film be shot in Hawaii and just called Ohana? Family.
Washington Black- Finished this, and reviewed it yesterday. This is just me acknowledging that in case you weren’t paying attention, which is fine. Totally fine. I don’t take things personally. Ever.
South Park- So, I’ve been slowly pushing this thing back to see when the audio description pos up. The first episode had audio description by Monday, but on Sunday, it still didn’t have it for this most recent episode. Perhaps Monday is the sweet spot? this episode remains a referendum on Trump, though they really pointed a lot at AI, specifically ChatGBT, and how tech bros take some special K to boost their processing. Oh… I’m in a hole. But seriously, if this means finally that the whole Tegrity plot is dead, I’m happy. Trey Parker and Matt Stone know their fans are tired of it, something they basically admit to by having Randy in a conversation with his family and they all just keep saying they hate this idea, and they want to go back. I should point out, they also have a hot take on ICE raids of farms, which is actually happening in real life. Plus, Towlie visits a Washington DC that is occupied actively by the military, with tanks in the streets.
Breaking Bad- Walt is back to the normal life, which consists of tearing apart his floor when he thinks he sees rot. Meanwhile, Skylar is clearly trying to get the guy at work to do something with her. I’m not sure it’s sex, but maybe she just likes being flirted with, but even the audio description clocks her cleavage. I watched this with a sighted person whose sole comment was on her outfits for work, and how both of them were intentionally revealing. And, Jesse is looking forward to a future with Jane, who may not be looking forward to one with him.
