Another review of a SXSW 2026 title, coming out of the documentary features arena, The Ascent seemed like an absolute no-brainer for myself, a disabled film critic. Here’s a film seemingly about a bilateral amputee climbing Kilimanjaro. If you liked the Harry Potter trailer, just know that HBO is committed to the franchise. Season 2 is already in preproduction, with scripts being written and commissioned. Disney is basically stuck in the same boat with Percy Jackson, as these are kids, and they’ll grow up really fast. Netflix has a new documentary, which I’m sure is a shock to you.
