The Too Much TV Roundup- 02/06/23

Well, I tried something new. It did not satisfy me. It also did not have audio description. The other five shows did though. 6) Willow (Disney Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes I feel like this show is stuck, in the 7th episode of the season, and it’s a show that can’t really afford to get stuck. When they don’t ahve a lot of action, it reveals how bad the casting was for this series. I wouldn’t mind seeing most of these young actors again, but on shows that make sense. This just feels so childish at times, and this episode … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 02/06/23

The Too Much TV Roundup- 02/05/23

Some new shows on this list. How did they stack up? 7) That 90’s Show (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes The pilot has the benefit of both Topher Grace and Laura prepon guest starring to help get the ball rolling on this new younger 90’s cast. As someone from the 90’s, I was waiting for a barrage of 90’s references. Granted, it’s possible everyone is wearing JNCO or something, and I can’t see that, but basically we’ve reduced the 90’s kids to being obsessed about beer instead of weed. I’ll stick with this a bit longer, since other original cast … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 02/05/23

The Redeem Team

Where I Watched It: Netflix English Audio Description?: Yes Apparently there was a period of time where we sucked at Olympic basketball. This is their story. Actually, this is the story of coming out of that period, so i think this film is basically trying to say that the early 2000’s were not great for us, despite Kobe, Allen iverson, and other All-Stars. it wasn’t until all the cards seemed to stack the right deck (Lebron james) that we could be “redeemed”. It’s a pretty straightforward nBA documentary, and considering all the other sports docs I’ve seen this year, this … Continue reading The Redeem Team

Vesper

Where I Watched it: iTunes English Audio Description provided By: Audio Eyes Narrated By: Chris Snyder Indie science fiction can sometimes push the creators to the creative brink. Typically, they lack the Avatar type funding to make a big budget bonanza, so you get something really interesting, like Primer. vesper is more involved than Primer, but still feels limited in its scope. It, like many like it, is set in a dystopian future. There are robots, people living outside the “community”, food scarcity, and clearly an entirely new set of rules of governance. Vesper is a girl who scavenges as … Continue reading Vesper

The Too Much TV Roundup- 02/04/23

Well, TV happened. Two movies happened. But this is just a look at the 8 TV shows I squeezed in yesterday. 8) Night Court (NBC/Peacock) English Audio Description?: Yes As happy as I am to see john Larroquette back as a regular in something, this wasn’t the least bit entertaining. It all felt forced, and somehow reminiscent of sitcoms of yesteryear, but not the good ones. This felt like a comedy that would have been thrown into the Must-See TV Lineup in the 90’s between two big hits, but eventually cancelled. Boston Common, anybody? That is very much canned laughter … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 02/04/23

After Ever Happy

Where i Watched it?: The Third circle of hell Where You Can Watch It?: Netflix English Audio Description?: Yes This film made me question my life choices. I found myself watching a film where the biggest names are buried in supporting roles, as Academy Award Winner Mira Sorvino is forced to take a backseat to whoever the fuck is starring in this garbage. is this part of the After series, or just a coincidence? i didn’t even think of that until it was too late, and I was deep in the film. Then I thought, perhaps there is more to … Continue reading After Ever Happy

3000 Years of Longing

Where I Watched It: iTunes English Audio Description provided By: Deluxe Narrated By: Laura Post and jedidiah Barton It’s sort of amazing that George Miller has so many fans of his work, since he can’t seem to be held down to a specific style or genre. Obviously, a lot of new fans found him when Mad Max Fury Road surpassed expectations, but the same guy who made that film, just made a rather simple movie about two people having a long, rather fanciful, conversation. Oh, and don’t forget Babe: Pig in The City In 3000 years of longing, Idris Elba … Continue reading 3000 Years of Longing

Best If 2022: Top 10 Limited Series

And now the official cutting down of the top 10. If you look through the lists, there were shows that either had acting mentions in my top 10, or ensemble mentions, and didn’t make the cut. i obviously enjoyed more than 10 limited series this year, and I hope that is reflected in this list. 10) Joe Vs Carol (Peacock) 9) Inventing Anna (Netflix) 8) The Patient (Hulu) 7) Five Days At memorial (Apple Plus) 6) The Last Days of Ptolemy Gray (Apple Plus) 5) The Undeclared War (Peacock) 4) From Scratch (Netflix) 3) Gaslit (Starz) 2) Shining Girls (Apple … Continue reading Best If 2022: Top 10 Limited Series

Best of 2022: Top 10 Lead Actor In A limited Series

It’s funny how the show representation for women and men looks totally different. A lot of the shows that showed up in lead actress give way to new shows here, with actors giving the killer performances. For at least one, killer is very appropriate. 10) Kumail Nanjiani (Welcome To Chippendales) Hulu 9) Colin Firth (The Staircase) HBo MAX 8) Sebastian Stan (Pam and Tommy) Hulu 7) Jared Leto (We Crashed) Apple Plus 6) John Cameron Mitchell (Joe Vs Carol) Peacock 5) Domnhall Gleeson (The Patient) Hulu 4) Bobby Cannavale (The watcher) Netflix 3) Samuel L Jackson (The Last Days of … Continue reading Best of 2022: Top 10 Lead Actor In A limited Series

Best Of 2022: Top 10 Actress In A limited Series

I definitely left off names that earlier in the year I didn’t think I’d be leaving off. This was a tough list to make, and i seemed to have that problem a lot more in Actress categories this year than Actor. 10) Emily Blunt (The English) Amazon Mallory Johnson (Kindred) Hulu 8) Jessica Biel (Candy) Hulu 7) Lily James (Pam and Tommy) Hulu 5) Amanda Seyfried (The Dropout) Hulu) 5) Kate McKinnon (Joe Vs Carol) Peacock) 4) Julia Roberts (Gaslit) Starz 3) Zoe Saldana (From Scratch) Netflix 2) Elizabeth Moss (Shining Girls) Apple Plus 1) Michelle Pfeiffer (The First Ladies) … Continue reading Best Of 2022: Top 10 Actress In A limited Series

The Too Much TV Roundup- 02/03/23

One of those days, where I can knock off 9 shows and a movie (and i actually had a zoom meeting too). Of course, it helped that a bunch of these were half hour shows… 9) Paul T Goldman (Peacock) English Audio Description?: Yes I guess, I’m not really sure what this is, or what I’m supposed to take away from it. It seems like it has a mockumentary format, and there’s some kind of mystery buried in this series, but everyone’s acting was so awkwarrd, I couldn’t figure out what genre this was trying to be. Then again, Peacock … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 02/03/23

Best Of 2022: Top 10 Sci-Fi/Fantasy Series

This is my party. I’ll cry if i want to. Other critics are deeply concerned about their lists aligning with the general perception of other critics, or how the way the wind blows at any given time, but me? Nahhhh. One show means the world to me, so this should be the least surprising top 10 result. However, it is nice to see which other nine made the cut. 10) The Peripheral (Amazon) 9) The Umbrella Academy (Netflix) 8) Locke and Key (Netflix) 7) Wednesday (Netflix) 6) Outer Range (Amazon) 5) The Boys (Amazon) 4) House Of The Dragon (HBO … Continue reading Best Of 2022: Top 10 Sci-Fi/Fantasy Series

Best Of 2022: Top 10 Lead Actor in A Sci-Fi/Fantasy Series

Previously, this category led to Jenna Ortega topping my list for her performance in Wednesday, but Supporting Actor was Mark Jackson for The orville, and Supporting Actress was Sadie Sing for Stranger Things, with Walking Dead winning Ensemble. Will a new show have a winner on top, or will one of those other shows repeat? I’m kind of a spread the love kind of guy. 10) Tom Sturridge (The Sandman) Netflix 9) Diego Luna (Andor) Disney Plus 8) Brendan Fraser (Doom Patrol) HBO MAX 7) Karl Urban (The Boys) Amazon 6) JK Simmons (Night Sky) Amazon 5) Norman Reedus (The … Continue reading Best Of 2022: Top 10 Lead Actor in A Sci-Fi/Fantasy Series

The Too Much TV Roundup- 02/02/23

I woke up in the morning, and did not see my shadow. of course, that was as to be expected. I’m not quite the weatherman as a famous groundhog, but take that prediction for what you will. 6) Dragon Age: Absolution (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes It just kind of feels like Vox Machina to me, which I haven’t started season 2 of yet, but I’m really wanting to now. Like, super bad. Their conflicts in this series, about finding this rumored plot device that can bring anyone back to life, not as a zombie, but as they once were, … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 02/02/23

The Too Much TV Roundup- 02/01/23

Well, this was a day of television. And cancellations. And for some reason… a second season of The Terminal List? I suppose the news that hits fans hardest yesterday was the cancellation of The Blacklist, though if you are someone who believes that show should have gone on past Megan Boone’s exit, perhaps you’ve been lying to yourself for a while. 7) Alert! (FOX/ Hulu) English Audio Description?: No After watching the first episode, I said i would need a second to see where the series intends to go long term. Now I realize the show is pretty dumb. I … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 02/01/23
