The Too Much TV Roundup- 02/11/23
The past few days have seen me all move on from a show. Peak television means i really can’t be screwing around with shows I don’t like, or shows with no future that I’m not in love with. Today is no different. 8) Accused (FOX/Hulu) English Audio Description?: No So, first off, since there was a lot of talk about the subject matter of the first episode, let me just say my decision to not follow the series has very little to do with that, if at all. An odd, but bold choice. No, this show is hard to follow … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 02/11/23
The Silent Twins
Where i Watched it: Peacock English Audio Description?: Yes Narrated by Claudia Dunn Based on a true story about two twin girls who only talked to each other and the odd things that they did. I barely remember this film. I remember it trying to feel like a horror movie without actually being one. It’s a true story, and there are no ghosts. The ending is more effective than anything else, as it lets you know how things happened once the movie is over. The girls are played at two different ages, young and old, and the four women who … Continue reading The Silent Twins
Easter Sunday
Where i Watched It: iTunes English Audio Description?: Yes Does anyone remember Chairman Of The Board? it was this 90’s movie where a movie studio gave Carrot Top money to make and star in his own film. There are so many instances like that over the years, where a comic seems hot at the time, but a studio has no idea what to do with them. So, they either give full creative control to the comedian (ala Louie CK and the legendarily awful Pootie Tang) or they plug them into completely lifeless films. Ellen Degeneres (Mr Wrong), Ricki lake (Mrs … Continue reading Easter Sunday
Oscars: The Who Will Win?
it’s about that mid point in the Oscar season, so I figured I’d talk about the race. Who Will Win, Who Could Win or Might Upset, and how close these races are. BEST PICTURE: Who Will Win?: Everything Everywhere All At Once Who Might Win: Top Gun Maverick, All Quiet On The Western Front, The Fablemans, The Banshees of inisherin Who Should Win: I’d be fine with EEAAO, but I’d be happier if All Quiet On The Western Front, top Gun Maverick, or Banshees Of inisherin won. I think the other five nominees just don’t have enough behind them. I … Continue reading Oscars: The Who Will Win?
This Place Rules
Where I Watched It: HBo MAX English Audio Description provided By: point360 Narrated By: Roy Samuelson I saw this over a month ago. I watched so many films over my winter break, plus the films I continue to watch, that catching up on reviews has been a bit of a nightmare. So, pretend this review happened a month ago before the allegations against Andrew Callahan came about. To be respectful to those currently in that state of affairs, i will be making this short, because it’s hard to be effusive about someone’s work while they are also in the middle … Continue reading This Place Rules
Hallelujah
Where I Watched it: Netflix English Audio Description?: No This Leonard Cohen doc ended up on Netflix after failing to get a spot in the final five. It also doesn’t have audio description which seems to be a growing trend in theatrically released documentaries. Netflix and HBO MAX will put it on their own content, but these other acquisitions seem to struggle. Here, the film is largely about the power of Leonard Cohen’s best known song, and it’s musical history. If you want a longer look at Cohen the artist, there’s an older documentary “I Am your Man”, which might … Continue reading Hallelujah
Best Of 2022: Top 10 Achievements In Sound (Film)
Probably the one list no one was really excited for, and I’m sorry. but as a blind film critic, telling you my top 10 choices in Cinematography or Visual Effects just doesn’t make sense to me. But I can hear just fine. So, since Sound Design and Sound Mixing are now one category at the Oscars, I also just have “sound”. I know which films I still “need’ to seee, and the only possibility that could have taken a spot on this list was Avatar The way Of Water, which despite its best efforts, will be a Disney Plus release … Continue reading Best Of 2022: Top 10 Achievements In Sound (Film)
The Too Much TV Roundup- 02/10/23
I’m just gonna keep dumping shows I don’t like after 2 or 3 episodes. That is what peak TV means to me. And, at least one show is getting the axe today. On a positive note, while Reboot was unable to find a home, Showtime has decided to save Netflix’s recently cancelled Uncoupled. Maybe the networks and streaming services could just stop fucking around and keep shows on that have fans so they don’t need other networks to save them. I want to be happy for Uncoupled, but i think about how Let The Right One in was recently cancelled … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 02/10/23
To Leslie
Where I Watched it: iTunes English Audio Description?: No It may surprise you that this out of left field Oscar nominee that made 27K at the box office from something called “Momentum Films” doesn’t have audio description. if it does surprise you, you’ve probably been to an independent film festival and seen films without distribution have accessibility. Especially some incredibly low budget films that wind up at film festivals geared specifically to the blind and visually impaired community, where the films you’ve likely never heard of are made my blind and visually impaired talent. So, no, Leslie doesn’t get a … Continue reading To Leslie

So Bob Iger is OK with going either route on keeping Hulu or selling it. It’s funny how Bob Chappick talked about one day integrating Hulu fully into Disney Plus, so your kids can watch Bluey and The Handmaid’s Tale, and iger is just so indifferent. While Disney Plus has managed to host a handful of their R rated product, to assume that selling Hulu and suddenly uploading a ton of adult content to Disney Plus is necessarily the right call is a big leap. Although, Disney Plus has a better rate of audio description than hulu, so perhaps if … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 02/09/23

Nine shows to rank today. Another one i think is biting the dust. 9) Paul T Goldman (Peacock) English Audio Description?: Yes I think it’s very possible for people to find enjoyment in this series, but I think it’s a curated portion of the population. I’m not in that population. Two episodes in, and I can see what they seem to want to be doing here, and it’s just not my thing. Episode Grade: C 8) 8) Star Wars: The Bad Batch (Disney Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes I think that guy at the end learned a very important lesson … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 02/08/23
Best Of 2022: Top 10 Drama Series
here it is. The big list. And, yeah, there are some major omissions here. I feel like critically, me snubbing Better Call Saul and The White Lotus would be surprising, but for me personally, it’s harder for me to cut dramas I love like Cobra Kai and new Amsterdam, or even emerging series like Leopard Skin. So, there’s a very long list. I stopped watching Saul’s final season so I could wait for Netflix to release it with audio description. I had watched all the other seasons that way, and while it’s inconvenient for an awards list, a lack of … Continue reading Best Of 2022: Top 10 Drama Series
Best Of 2022: Top 10 Lead Actor in A Drama Series
I definitely left some performances off this list, but that’s happened with every list. I’ve held hard on that 10, and not expanding to some 11 or 12, because I can’t Sophie’s Choice my way to ten. I acknowledge that my 11-20 choices would look great, but these are the top ten. 10 Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton) Netflix 9) Jabari Banks (Bel Air) peacock 8) Alan Ritchson (Reacher) Amazon 7) Joel Kinnamon (For All Mankind) Apple Plus 6) Adam Scott (Severance) Apple plus 5) Jeff Bridges (The Old Man) FX 4) Bob Odenkirk (Better call Saul) AMC 3) Kevin Costner (Yellowstone) … Continue reading Best Of 2022: Top 10 Lead Actor in A Drama Series

Now, my top 10 actress picks. Some deep cuts as always. 10) Sue Ann Payne (As We See It) Amazon 9) Simone Ashley (Bridgerton) Netflix 8) Carla Gugino (Leopard Skin) Peacock 7) Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Surface) Apple Plus 6) Deborah Ayorinde (Riches) Amazon 5) Britt Lower (Severance) Apple Plus 4) Kris Marshall (For All Mankind) Apple Plus 3) Christine Baranski (The Good Fight) … Continue reading Best Of 2022: Top 10 Lead Actress in A Drama Series
The Too Much TV Roundup- 02/07/23
Well, sports fans. 8 shows entered today, but not all of them will survive. Some, because their season naturally ended. And others… well… you’ll find out. 8) Alert! (Fox/Hulu) English Audio Description?: No First, this is the third episode “Zoey”. There have just been far too many moments where I’ve needed audio description. Too much action, people getting shot at, or shot, and it’s a recurring problem not going away. Since there isn’t audio description, because… well… Hulu, then I have to assume there never will be. On top of that, in the third episode of a show that is … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 02/07/23
