The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/12/23

Yesterday provided ample TV news. NBC announced their fall lineup, which included a Season 2 renewal for Lopez V Lopez, and has left its remaining sitcoms (American Auto, Young Rock, and Grand Crew) on the bubble. NBC also surprisingly revived Transplant with a 2 season order (since the series comes from Canada), and pushed LaBrea’s tiny third (and likely final) season to mid season. Meanwhile, The CW surprisingly rescued cancelled AMC drama 61st Street. I’m not sure why. I’m not sure anyone was asking for that. But this is the new CW, and by God, they will be irrelevant in … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/12/23

The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/06/23

I read an interesting news story that fans of Netflix shows have noticed that Netflix loves to cancel their product, and are now banding together to try and stop these cancellations. For example, there’s an entire subreddit devoted to Shadow and Bone where over 24K fans keep rewatching the show over and over to keep its numbers up. I wonder if just going to work, and leaving your Netflix running on Shadow and Bone couldn’t at least get you some hours in there. Also, Richard Dreyfuss did an interview where he wanted to know why he can’t play a black … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/06/23

The Too Much TV Roundup- 04/29/23

You know what today is. It’s the day we are all supposed to post that Justin Timberlake/*NSYNC meme “It’s Gonna Be May”. Don’t worry. I’m here to remind you of useless knowledge to keep your socials on fleek. Also, no one says “on fleek” anymore. 11) history of The World Part 2 (hulu) English Audio Description?: Yes I really feel like someone who is not Mel Brooks wrote the script, had Mel brooks look at it, and possibly punch it up a bit, and then he gave it his blessing. There are so many jokes here that fall flat and … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 04/29/23

The Too Much TV Roundup- 04/01/23

We are already a quarter of the way through the year. Based on how fast I review films thus far, I’ll see 80 films this year. Of course, I know I’ll see more, but it’s crazy how slow accumulating that at the beginning of the year really is. 7) History Of The World Part 2 (Hulu) English Audio Description?: Yes There were times in the first episode that the comedy did feel in the style of Mel Brooks, but most of this doesn’t feel like him at all. I did laugh at the Lincoln segment in the first part. Making … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 04/01/23

The Too Much TV Roundup- 02/18/23

I technically watched three movies today, though one wasn’t feature length. And 8 episodes. So there ya go. 8) The Watchful eye (Freeform/Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Really, this show was borderline unwatchable without audio description. It opens up in the pilot and for the first few minutes, something is happening, but there is no audio description, and no one is talking. That’s not the only time that tactic is used in this show. Sadly, I got the hint that if this did have audio description I would watch it. So, if you’re one of my sighted readers, I’ll let … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 02/18/23

The Too Much TV Roundup- October 29th

A slow Saturday, but I still managed four shows and a movie. Here’s how those four shows laid out. 4) Little Demon (FXX/Hulu) English Audio Description?: no I think the most frustrating thing about this show isn’t the content, which I’m sure turned away viewers, it’s that because FX slacks on AD, or Hulu refuses to use it (who knows), this show doesn’t have it. So, all of the absolutely crazy stuff that happens, regarding demons or demons using abilities, or even our main girl using her powers, a lot of that visual stuff is 100% lost on me. I’m … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- October 29th

The Too Much TV Roundup- October 23rd

I managed to squeeze in starting a few new series today. Sadly, not everything had audio description today. 8) Star Trek: Lower Decks (Paramount Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes The comedy version of Star Trek goes just far enough to be considered comedic, but not too far to be considered mocking the Trek universe. Maybe, it needs a little send up from time to time. I’ve been watching this for a few seasons, and it’s never been at the top of my list. it’s always just kind of sat here. Barely clinging on to my increasingly hard to maintain viewership. … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- October 23rd

The Too Much TV Roundup- October 14th

A long list of shows today. And, still in the new countdown format. One of these shows, I’m really not sure I’ll be staying with. 8) History 101 (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes I’m just putting this last because I’m really not sure I needed 23 minutes on hallucinogenic drugs. I’m not totally sure they’ve covered enough topics yet to be at a point where this is the right time, though I support their medicinal use. Maybe, i just didn’t care that this episode existed? Episode Grade: B- 7) Moe (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes So, here’s the problem that … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- October 14th

The Too Much TV Roundup- October 8th

It’s Saturday, which usually means I got a lot knocked off. 1) Solar Opposites (Hulu) English Audio Description?: Yes When pupa starts misbehaving and turns into a bratty teenager, the opposites had to figure out what the cause of all this was. But really, the inspired choice of a real life game of Hungry Hungry Hippos was the top of this. episode Grade: A 2) The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers (Disney Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes The Ducks continue to work out at this summer training camp in episodes released in October, which seems weird timing, but whatever. We find … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- October 8th

The Too Much TV Roundup- September 30th

Heading into Halloween season, I leave September behind with a few thoughts, and some new additions to the rotation. 1) The Patient (hulu) English Audio Description Available?: Yes See how easy that was Hulu? All you needed to do to stop getting shitty scores on this show was actually add audio description so I could follow the show. in Episode 4, the tension continues to mount, as the trapped doctor tries to communicate with the next likely victim, knowing that if he can’t get a breakthrough with his serial killer patient, the guy across the hall is dead. Not only … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- September 30th

You know the deal. It’s time for another top 10 shows from last week from me. I started watching a few new shows, but will they make it onto the top 10? 1) Black-ish (ABC/Hulu) English Audio Description Available?: On most episodes (from my experience). The Johnson’s bid us farewell last week, closing their door on a seven season Emmy nominated run, that launched two spinoffs. As we saw in the pilot, Dre came full circle in realizing that the strongest move he could make wasn’t to lift only his family up into an all white community, but rather to … Continue reading the Too Much TV Roundup
