Chupa

Where I Watched it: Netflix Audio Description Provided By: International Digital Center Written By: Tevin Christopher Narrated By Frankie Corroso This follows the “boy and his dog” formula for the most part, except this isn’t a dog. It’s a Chupacabra! I actually clicked on this on Netflix thinking it would be animated. It’s not. It features Academy Award Nominee Demian Bichir as well as Christian Slater. It’s very much along the lines of things that came before it, like ET, or The Last Mimzy, or hell, Free Willy. Any film where a boy’s life was changed by the improbable creature … Continue reading Chupa

The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/03/23

Last night, the series finales for The Goldbergs and A Million Little Things happened. I didn’t watch either. 10) 10) The Rookie Feds (ABC/Hulu) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: not Yet Renewed I watched Feds before the flagship show again, and my initial reaction was that I thought it was funny how much this show was about luck, and yet this show is still on the bubble. That hotel room being described the way it was seemed extra silly, and i was here for that, as well as the guy who thought he was holding a nuke. But, the finale … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/03/23

The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/02/23

Well, I messed this post up earlier, and in order to get a notification sent out with the correct title, i redid the roundup. In case you missed that bulletin, Dancing With The Stars is returning to ABC. between that and 911, things aren’t looking good for bubble dramas like Big Sky, Alaska Daily, The Company you Keep, and The Rookie Feds. 9) Outlast (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes In the last ranking, I didn’t put Outlast in last, and this gives me the opportunity to do it. I think this show and the producers made a huge error. I … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/02/23

The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/01/23

I can’t claim a shortage of good news today. The WGA voted finally to go on strike, which is officially happening right now. That means all guild writers, which is most of Hollywood, have ceased working on their projects. This affects shows with quick turnover rates first, like late night talk and variety shows. So until this strike is over, expect Colbert, Meyers, Fallon, Kimmel, and others to be reruns. This also likely ended Saturday Night Live’s season, unless a deal is reached soon. Pete Davidson was supposed to host this week, and I don’t believe that’s happening since some … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/01/23

The Too Much TV Roundup- 04/30/23

Good news for fans of The morning Show. Apple Plus has already picked that show up for a fourth season before the third season even premieres. 11) The power (Amazon) English Audio Description?: Yes Honestly, I’m as surprised as you are. I was actually looking forward to this series. However, the pilot is very slow. I felt like I was watching a completely different show than the one the trailers had been hyping. it reminded me of how I used to feel when i was hyped for the latest theatrical adaptation of a hot YA title, only for it to … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 04/30/23

Murder Mystery 2

Where I Watched It: Netflix English Audio Description?: Yes For some reason, Adam Sandler feels like that one actor whose entire filmography I’ve consumed. From the lowest of lows, like Hewbie Halloween and Little Nicky to underrated gems like Reign Over me and The Meyerowitz Stories, to my favorites like Big Daddy and happy Gilmore, I reliably show up. Whether it’s a Netflix original, a Grown ups sequel, or an attempt at more dramatic fare, I’ve seen this guys entire filmography. The first Murder Mystery was fine. This one is a little less so. Now that doesn’t mean that it’s … Continue reading Murder Mystery 2

The Too Much TV Roundup- 04/26/23

CBS let go most of the series regulars of Bob Hearts Abishola so the show would be cheap enough to be worth continuing. I don’t watch that, but for those that do that has to suck. 8) The Golden Girls (ABC/hulu) English Audio Description?: No I think the writing got a little sloppy at the end. This is near the end of Season 5, where Rose’s former flame Buzz is in town, but unbeknownst to everyone, there’s already a man in her life. And let me tell you, this guy opens the front door with the confidence of a series … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 04/26/23

The Too Much TV roundup- 04/14/23

I actually squeezed quite a few season finales into the same day. Totally by accident. 6) Velma (HBo MAX) English Audio Description?: yes oof. That reveal is a hot mess. maybe that’s the point. I did watch my fair share of Scooby Doo cartoons back in the day, and maybe the killer was always a leap. but, this killer reveal felt like a side character I knew existed, but not because the story put them at front and center at all.The feeling of that great big payoff is diminished when the reveal is more of a head scratcher than a … Continue reading The Too Much TV roundup- 04/14/23

The Too Much TV Roundup- 04/06/23

Well, one of my cancellation predictions came true. FOX has pronounced time of death on The Resident to be six seasons. 5) Top Chef (Bravo/Peacock) English Audio Description?: No So, I’m gonna tank one of my long time favorites this week. I thought the way this episode handled a contestant having a severe allergic reaction was a bit callous. They use the drama of the moment just enough to mention it, and have another contestant call for concern, but at no time do we hear anyone from the production team or medical stepping in to make sure her throat doesn’t … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 04/06/23

The Too Much TV Roundup- 04/04/23

No major TV news yesterday that i caught, except that Showtime has already removed all episodes of the L Word: Generation Q from their service. Hope you weren’t behind. I am being featured tonight in a discussion with some audio description heavy hitters that I feel blessed to be a part of. The conversation is on LinkedIn. I finally had to join LinkedIn for this. hah. 7) Shadow and Bone (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes This was just a terribly competitive day. It’s not that I dislike this show, even though it sits at 7th, but rather that it ranks … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 04/04/23

The BoxTrolls

Where I Watched it: Netflix English Audio Description?: Yes I missed this one when I could still see. I can’t really remember why. I enjoy most stop motion animation, and this one did have critical acclaim. Something tells me it wasn’t in theatres very long, though that wouldn’t have stopped me from getting this on Redbox. So, I have no excuse. My first foray into this absolutely bonkers animated feature is with audio description. I think there’s something beautiful about the stop motion process, and it’s hard to really capture that with audio description. Sometimes, magic is just magic, and … Continue reading The BoxTrolls

Something big happened yesterday. Something huge. Something I never thought I’d see happen. E3 was cancelled. What? You thought I was going to say something else? 6) The Masked Singer (FOX/Hulu) English Audio Description?; No I didn’t even know who that last person was. When we start bringing on an influx of reality talent, that’s eventually what sank Dancing With The Stars. And George Wendt, interesting choice, but kids have no idea who taht was. And none of those three could sing. Not even Doll who advanced. Sorry, not sorry. Episode Grade: C+ 5) Mayor Of Kings Town (Paramount Plus) … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 03/30/23

Luther: The Fallen Son

Where I Watched It: Netflix English Audio Description Provided By: Descriptive Video Works I never actually watched the TV series, so I was wondering if that would put a damper on my absolute to understand the film. Would this be a film made specifically for Luther fans? Do I have to binge watch the whole damn series? Luckily, no. While I’m sure the experience is more rewarding, watching this is a bit like watching Death On The Nile, but not Murder on The Orient Express. If you’re just aware that there is a detective named Poirot, then you can embrace … Continue reading Luther: The Fallen Son

The Too Much TV Roundup: 03/23/23

Well, FOX went ahead and renewed their shittiest shows first, making sure that Alert and Accused joined the already shitty and renewed The Cleaning Lady. I’m being a bit harsh. I thought The Cleaning Lady was dull, Alert was hard to follow without AD and the acting wasn’t great, and I just don’t enjoy shows formatted like Accused. Ironically, none of these shows are the top show of FOX, which is actually 911, which I’m hearing FOX is being a whiny little bitch about. Their top show is too expensive. Well, no shit. You landed Angela Bassett as the lead, and … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup: 03/23/23

We Have A ghost

Where I Watched it: Netflix English Audio Description Provided By: International Digital Center Narration Written By Dakota Green For once, I want a film where the lead kid/teenager who befriends whatever entity the film requires to not be a loner or an outcast. It’s always the sad kid who has no friends. popular kids never make friends with ghosts or aliens or talking toys. It’s always someone broken who needs fixing. Believe it or not, this netflix release passed my litmus test for 2023, aka The year I Stop Watching Shit I Don’t Want To See. I figured, stupidly, a … Continue reading We Have A ghost
