Not sure I have any mind blowing TV news.Oh, it would appear there is a new episode of invincible on Prime for anyone who missed out on that push notification yesterday. I’m assuming it’s something they got at Comic Con.
11) Young Sheldon (MAX)
English audio Description?: Yes
Status: Renewed
I didn’t really watch anything I didn’t like yesterday. Sheldon just lost because it wasn’t a standout episode. Sheldon saw himself as an old soul, and was disappointed when he realized he’s just a kid… and can’t date an adult.
Episode Grade: B
10) 8 Simple Rules (Disney Plus)
English Audio Description?: No
Status: Ended
Paul gets Bridget a drum kit. Which also means she gets a drum teacher, who I am guessing was some major celebrity based on the reaction from the in-studio audience. Regardless, Bridget’s new path in life isn’t to become a drummer, so of course he’s a 1 episode character.
Episode Grade: B
9) Mad Men (????)
English Audio Description?: No
Status: Ended
I lost audio description with Season 2, but I also lost ads. So I still haven’t figured this out. But, this was pretty much the slowest Mad Men episode yet, dealing with peripheral characters, failed pitches, and a bold ask to start up a TV division. Peggy was here too, but this kind of felt like a third episode, where there are no stakes and they are using the episode to build the background of characters.
Episode Grade: B
8) The Muppets Mayhem (Disney plus)
English Audio Description?: Yes
Status: Unknown
This episode actually had some funny moments, with the band being attacked by rabid fanbases of known pop stars. Also, they did a mo-cap performance in Minecraft, and then completed the album, and we ended the episode on a cliffhanger.
episode Grade: B+
7) Home Improvement (Hulu)
English Audio Description?: no
Status: Ended
Tim takes a job teaching shop at a high school, which he takes seriously, but the kids mostly just want the funny guy from TV. So, he has to find a new way to reach his students, or give up.
Episode Grade: B+
6) The Walking Dead: Dead City (AMC Plus)
English Audio Description?: No
Status: Renewed
I would have made some different choices, and the show is still hurt by a lack of audio description. They’ve turned Herschel into the literal worst, and Maggie and Negan still carry the show.
Episode Grade: B+
5) Everwood (FreeVee)
English Audio Description?: No
Status: Ended
I can’t help but think this episode got a little crowded. I’m surprised we didn’t have more storylines with Nina fretting over her husband, or Dealia crushing on a boy. Apparently, Valentines in Everwood means all hands on deck, and while I love these characters, there are people whose arcs didn’t need to be focused on, and we could have spent more time on those that made sense. Amy/Epharam/Andy made sense, wile Dr Abbott and his wife, plus his mother and Irv just wasted time. We’ve spent all season building on this Colin and Amy thing, and it’s their first Valentine’s back, not to mention Andy’s first without his wife, and he’s out with another woman. So, perhaps, those storylines were really enough, with a touch of Ephram choosing to move on with Lanie.
Episode Grade: B+
4) Beavis and Butthead (Paramount Plus)
English Audio Description?: Yes
Status: Hopefully Renewed
Beavis has had enough of butthead’s abuse, and seeks out a hitman to kill butthead. This is truly the darkest timeline. But, he basically hires home renovators instead.
Episode Grade: A-
3) The Big Door Prize (Apple Plus)
English Audio Description?: Yes
Status: Renewed
Episode 8, much like Silo, felt like such a strong mic drop i assumed both seasons wrapped at 8 episodes. However, the writers had to go for this festival two-parter, and the most interesting thing about this is someone getting morpho dots on their face. Meanwhile, Cass’s mom is aching for a reckoning.
Episode Grade: A-
2) Never Have i Ever (Netflix)
English Audio Description?: Yes
Status: Final Season
Jeff Garlin continues to find work, and Davie makes a play for a spot at Princeton, but finds out her boyfriend might be the guy everyone else has been warning her about, while Davie is also about to be stabbed in the back by one of her friends. or, will they both get in?
Episode Grade: A
1) The Marvelous ms Maisel (Amazon)
English Audio Description?: Yes
Status: Final Season
Four Minutes. As the series chugged along to the final episode, it gave me so many emotions. The episode takes place in 1965, and this features a moment where Midge is clearly trying to help Lenny, but Lenny Bruce died in 1966. We don’t see that, but it’s clear he’s not doing well. And, for almost the entire episode, I really hated Gordon. but, even though she definitely did more than 4 minutes, that was a fantastic way to wrap up the series. Tits up.
