Yesterday, the first in a trio of finales hit the TV world as Maisel fans said goodbye to their favorite program. Coming up, in less than a week, are the series finales of Succession and Ted Lasso. It’s a sad week. 11) The Adventures of The Gummi Bears (Disney Plus) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended Despite my love of this show when I was a kid, this third episode did absolutely nothing for me.Part 1 involved a surprisingly friendly dragon, and part 2 involved… well… I don’t know because it was hard to follow without audio description. But one … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/26/23

I did not plan this today. But i watched a new episode of Citadel the same day Amazon greenlit a second season. So that is my big TV news story to rock your world this morning. 12) All In The Family (FreeVee) English audio Description?: No Status: Ended Other than remembering Rob Reiner yelling about his Polish heritage at one point, my sleep last night completely erased what this episode was about. Occasionally that’s a problem with a show when i watch this much stuff in one day. Episode Grade: ? 11) Futurama (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Revived … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/25/23

Wynonna Judd: Between Hell and Hallelujah

Where I Watched it: Paramount Plus English Audio Description??: Yes This could have been an even darker film had Wynonna chosen to spend the duration talking about her mother. However, this is less about the tragic way Naomi Judd left us so suddenly, and more about how Wynonna put herself together, with the help of country music, to go ahead with the promised tour that was supposed to be her and Naomi. I’ve always known who The judds were, but never could claim being a massive fan. But the pacing of this film, and the care it takes in telling … Continue reading Wynonna Judd: Between Hell and Hallelujah

American idol crowned a winner last night. I’m watching it today. I know who won, and thank God. 15) Drops Of God (Apple Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Unknown This was an odd duck of a series.I’m not even really sure I understand what the show is about. There was a lot of focus on being able to taste really specific flavors immediately, and perhaps becoming a sommelier. But, I think of the new shows I watched, I enjoyed this one the least. It didn’t really establish to me what it wanted to be, and instead tried almost an … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/21/23

Well, that Disney/Hulu pull list I mentioned earlier got a little shorter as the internet clapped back about one title Disney was planning on purging, the documentary Howard, which centers around the composer Howard Ashman who was instrumental in the revival of Disney, starting with The little Mermaid. Not only did it seem in poor taste to remove a documentary about an LGBT icon right before pride month, but also right before the live action adaptation of his work hits the big screen. So, Howard will not be pulled. 13) Great Expectations (Hulu) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Limited Series … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/21/23

Paramount Plus and i are about to butt heads. I found out that they finally uploaded audio description for Everything Everywhere All At Once, which is a Showtime title. They still have not uploaded audio description for actual Showtime series that have known audio description. Winter is coming, you Paramount bitches. You can bother to do the work to get audio description for an A24 title, but not one of your own shows? That makes no sense. 15) TransAtlantic (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Limited Series I was on the fence after the first episode, but the second episode … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/19/23

Scream 6

Where I Watched It?: Paramount plus English Audio Description?: Yes “Hello Sidney. Remember me?: :This isn’t Sidney. you have the wrong number.” “Wait. Where is Sidney?” “Who knows. The producers didn’t want to pay Neve Campbell her asking price to reprise the role, but she sends her love.” Six films into this franchise, and it’s official. Sidney Prescott is no longer the final girl of her own franchise. That mantle has now been taken by Sam (Melissa Barrera), and arguably the other three that survived Scream 5. Scream: The New Generation finds the survivors of the most recent Woodsboro murders … Continue reading Scream 6

Well, ABC certainly had a big day. in general, all of Disney did. Disney Plus even made some big date announcements, putting Loki Season 2 in October and Echo in November. But, over at ABC, they have enough unscripted content to make the fall interesting. Not only is Dancing With The Stars back, but they’re changing the Bachelor format this year to feature The Golden Bachelor, for women of a certain age. Also, American Idol got that official renewal, as did The Connors, and ABC will be bringing back a lot of non-scripted hits like America’s Funniest Videos, Shark Tank, … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/16/23

Yesterday provided ample TV news. NBC announced their fall lineup, which included a Season 2 renewal for Lopez V Lopez, and has left its remaining sitcoms (American Auto, Young Rock, and Grand Crew) on the bubble. NBC also surprisingly revived Transplant with a 2 season order (since the series comes from Canada), and pushed LaBrea’s tiny third (and likely final) season to mid season. Meanwhile, The CW surprisingly rescued cancelled AMC drama 61st Street. I’m not sure why. I’m not sure anyone was asking for that. But this is the new CW, and by God, they will be irrelevant in … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/12/23

FOX has given a second season to the comedy Animal Control. Also, Disney is planning on merging Hulu into Disney Plus by the end of the year, and is currently in negotiations to buy out Comcast on their remaining shares. So your kids can watch Encanto and American Horror Story in one place! I have been integrating more and more reruns into my Lineup, a trend I’m personally enjoying. I’d rather continue to expand this way than spend more time stuck in series I’m not enjoying. So, especially on this list, this will likely be the last time for some … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/10/23

Well, CBS picked up the dramas I predicted, Matlock and Elzabeth as well as the Wayans family sitcom. Also, The CW renewed Walker, but cancelled Walker independence. They are really falling apart. 9) 9) Up Here (Hulu) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Not Yet Renewed Episode 4 revolves around “keeping it casual”, and I guess the more i spend with these leads, the more I’m starting to care about them? but, like barely. There was a fun song in Episode 4 where a children’s novelist sang a rather interesting musical number. i think I had been comparing this to Zoey’s … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/09/23

Scream 4

Where I Watched it: Paramount Plus English Audio Description?: No Scream 4 is kind of brilliant. It doesn’t have audio description, but I’ve been a fan of this since the beginning. Taking a leap forward in time, and bringing in a fresh cast, Scream 4 played off the rules set forth by a slew of horror remakes that came out in the 2000’s, as well as the rise of the torture porn sub genre started with Saw, and doing it all while feeling very much like a Scream movie. I’ve seen Scream 4 before several times, and since Scream 5 … Continue reading Scream 4

A couple more interesting WGA Strike tidbits. The Rings Of Power was told to continue filming without it’s showrunners (who are WGA members, and on strike). So if you were concerned about the quality last season, this could either be a good or bad thing. Probably bad though. And Evil, which was finishing filming on its fourth season, ended up wrapping filming early because the strike was too disruptive. I don’t know how you end early in a positive way. I would assume that means scenes are not being shot. I would think that affects the continuity of the show. … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/07/23

I read an interesting news story that fans of Netflix shows have noticed that Netflix loves to cancel their product, and are now banding together to try and stop these cancellations. For example, there’s an entire subreddit devoted to Shadow and Bone where over 24K fans keep rewatching the show over and over to keep its numbers up. I wonder if just going to work, and leaving your Netflix running on Shadow and Bone couldn’t at least get you some hours in there. Also, Richard Dreyfuss did an interview where he wanted to know why he can’t play a black … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/06/23

Definitely some big TV news yesterday. Kevin Costner’s perpetual temper tantrum has turned into this being the final season of Yellowstone. However, they are planning on doing a sequel spinoff series starring Matthew McConaughey and many of the current Yellowstone cast. Also cancelled is CBS’s 6 season success story SWAT, which was cancelled over money squabbling between CBS and Sony. Despite the fact that SWAT has actually grown its audience the past couple seasons, it’s too expensive, and a deal could not be reached. Finally, FOX is no longer speaking with Mayim Bialik, as they have stopped Call Me kat … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/05/23
