I gotta be honest and say, that while i realize this strike is keeping people from working, I 100% support it until at least the studios give up on abusing the use of AI. honestly, I’m loving catching up on shows, and rewatching them. Even though Sony recently had to make a slew of changes to their release schedule, pushing back several films, there’s never been a better time to catch up on that one show (or multiple) that you just never watched but always meant to.

Bridget had the hots for the drummer boy for one episode. We did not need closure. The amount of sitcom characters who have dated a person for one episode is staggering. Why did she need closure for a one episode character?

13) Cheers (Paramount Plus)

While this episode did introduce Lilith, and her dynamic with Frasier is totally different here than on the spinoff, it also continues to prop up this mutated version of Diane’s character, who isn’t relatable anymore. It’s like she’s had a psychotic break and the writers aren’t sure what to do with that. When Shelly Long leaves the show, I assume Kirstie Alley must fix that problem.

12) Everwood (Freevee)
English Audio Description?: No
Status: Ended
What a bizarre episode. I forgot this existed. most of the episode is trying to get a senile old man to coherently explain a murder they believe may have happened, and Dr. Abbott is worried his father was complicit. This takes up way too much screen time, and basically serves just to stick the landing at the end when Harold finds out his father used to brag about him all the time to other people. One heartwarming moment does not make up for a very lost and misguided episode.

11) The Big Door Prize (Apple Plus)
English Audio Description?: yes
Status: Renewed
What a silly season finale. All this build up about the storm, and they don’t go anywhere with it. The most we got was the power went out, and the people on the ferris wheel had to be rescued. The ending was written basically to just tantalize the audience with that whole “what does this all mean!?” Feeling, which doesn’t mean there’s a real pay off. I actually thought the season was better than most critics were giving it credit for, but what a waste of a thunder storm.

Jeff is basically worried about the legal world finding out he’s at Greendale, and the Dean is hoping he can get Troy convinced to play football for Greendale. It’s a blackmail episode, and i forgot this existed.

9) Invincible (Amazon)
English Audio Description?: Yes
Status: Season 2 coming soon
This is a special episode they released in the interim. It follows the origins of AtomEve, and I wish i could say i remember Invincible, but it’s been way too long.Honestly, with the odd humor interjected here, and a lot of the same tones, this felt more like an extended episode of The boys: Diabolical, which reminded me how similar those shows are. i think. It’s longer than your typical Invincible episode, so be ready for that.
Episode Grade: B+
8) Desperate Housewives (hulu)
English Audio Description?: No

figured it would be a good time to start watching this. Never saw it. Actually, i did catch the pilot, but I barely remembered it. Still it had a long run. My mom thought this was made when I was a little kid, and i blew her mind when I reminded her this premiered the same TV season as Grey’s Anatomy. Weird, huh? But yeah, this show needs audio description. I doubt hulu will do it, but it must be said. It was hard to follow, but I also had a sighted person randomly telling me things. That’s not the same thing, and our sighted friends and family shouldn’t feel like they have to do that.
7) Beavis and Butthead (Paramount Plus)

The second sketch, about the boys getting vasectomies was funnier. The little flash forward to those two as parents was funny.

Raylon is upset that someone killed his aunt, and he will get his revenge. By God. I’m almost done with season 2, and every episode someone gets shot. This show needs audio description.

5) Never Have I Ever (Netflix)
English Audio Description?: Yes
Status: Final Season
This episode had me up until the chaperones cancelled the whole trip because the three supporting players went to join Davie at Princeton. It’s a college visit, and they were encouraging one of them to go anyway. And who were these people that were their classmates worried that these three weren’t around? The teachers left Moulin Rouge at intermission, meaning someone called them. The narc is the problem, not the lead characters.

4) The Walking Dead (Netflix)

In the series penultimate hour, I kept asking myself why someone didn’t just shoot Pamela? She summoned zombies on her own town, and when they get in, she orders this girl to round up the army to protect her and let everyone else die? Come on now. Who would follow this person? This isn’t leadership. But, I’m a big fan, and next time I watch, it doesn’t matter what it is up against, but the Series Finale will be at #1 with a bullet. poor Lydia getting part of her arm chopped off.

3) The office (Peacock)

I’m not fooling with those fan episodes, i just want the OG. Sadly, despite this being a major draw for peacock, it doesn’t have audio description. I got excited when I saw I had an alternate track option, but it was Spanish. Steve Carell truly was brilliant as michael Scott.

2) Veep (MAX)
English Audio Description?: Yes

Hey! Veep has audio description! Also started this one up. Selina Meyer was such a great character for Julia Louis-Dreyfus and in my opinion, she was better here than on Seinfeld. Veep has such strong writing, and the pilot is hilarious.

1) Jack Ryan (Amazon)
English Audio Description?: Yes
Status: Final Season
They are working on a spinoff for michael Peña’s character, so pay attention. i like how the mystery is unfolding slower this week, with Jack possibly really in over his head this time. I’m not sure how this show ends, but i wonder if Jack Ryan will give his life for his country.
