The Small Screen Diaries- 06/11/24

Outer Range (Amazon) continues to get totally off the rails as Joy has to talk about that whole time travel thing with Royal. Meanwhile, his wife is fighting hard to not lose their ranch, and Autumn is delivered some of the dust which should give her a look at who she really is. Maybe it’s tied to that phone call? Renew this. And… how do you pronounce that thing that goes up your nose in hospitals? I’ve always said it a different way, and have always heard it a different way.

I’m enjoying seeing the mythology play out in Blood Of Zeus (Netflix). I think that’s what is keeping me around for now. Greek mythology inherently interests me for whatever reason, and seeing that here, is working for me. I’m still on season 1, as I had no idea this existed until it was recommended to me.

Dusty is really having to make a choice this episode in The Big Door Prize (Apple Plus), which saw the students of the town put on the weirdest version of Our Town. Giorgio really should be a character catching the eye of Emmy voters, but the comedy Series category is populated by so many dramatic performances now that someone like him won’t stand a chance.

Jerrod Carmichael brought another stand up into this weeks episode of Jerrod Carmichael Reality Show (MAX), which was completely different from the previous episode. I can’t wait to see how Emmy voters take to this oddly formatted show.

And lastly, Molly had to hang out with another billionaire ex-wife on Loot (Apple Plus) to try and get some funding for her project. My favorite exchange of the series came in this series was in this episode. If you don’t laugh when Molly says “i don’t know, I’ve been to like ten Olympics, and I’ve never bought a ticket.”, then why are you even watching Loot? It perfectly answered the joke, and it summarizes Molly perfectly. Here’s hoping Maya Rudolph can find her way to an Emmy nomination this year.

I usually do TV news at the top, but this is definitely a buried lead. The Boys has announced that next season, Season 5, will be its last. Season 4 premieres tomorrow. Of course, this won’t stop Amazon from making more spinoffs, but the main story will run its course, meaning for better or worse, we will learn rather shortly if Homelander is allowed to live at the end of this series.

Say Something!
