The Small Screen Diaries- 06/08/24

Things came together finally in Bodkin (Netflix), but that didn’t stop one of our leads from being served divorce papers, and another from being arrested. They might be really close to locking in this podcast, but AT WHAT COST? I enjoyed the audio description with the bee crawling out from under the covers, because it made me think something truly nefarious was under there, like a snake, then it was a bee. The suspense was there at least.

Velma (MAX) still has some brain swapping, and Velma has to figure out how to get Daphne’s brain back in her body. Meanwhile, Fred is enamored with an older lady… who just might not be who she seems!

I started Daniel Tosh’s new reality show The Goat (Amazon) which is a hilariously bad entry into competition reality, but at least it knows it. It feels like the kind of show Tosh would make, and that’s what makes it interesting, and reality stars are thirsty and will do anything. It does have audio description that was surprisingly pretty good considering the reality competition genre is lacking quite often, even lucky at times to even have it.

Then I checked out Clipped (Hulu), which is a new FX drama about the owner (former?) of the LA Clippers, and his behavior. I want to say it is just racist behavior, but this show is just presenting a dude I don’t want to get to know, and a wife of his that equally is not worth anyone’s time. Needless to say, they are absurdly rich, very entitled, and when he neglects his. “Personal assistant” she has the receipts. Subjectively, this dude’s life was fine, except his wife is obnoxious. Even for a woman being cheated on, she’s not a sympathetic character. What I do like, is seeing Doc Rivers, and various NBVA players represented. It’s a great period for me, because this specific time period I was still sighted, occasionally watched an NBA game, and played a lot of NBA 2K, so I knew all the players referenced in the first episode (Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, JJ Reddick, and Deandre Jordan). I’m really intrigued to see where this series goes, but it doesn’t make rich people look good.

Say Something!
