I finally allowed myself to finish the incredibly short third season of Girls5Eva (Netflix) and I really I’m sad there aren’t more episodes of this now. I really hope Netflix sticks with this, especially considering it ends on a cliffhanger. I think the show changed a little bit moving to Netflix, but mostly for really positive ways. I did miss Andrew Rannells a bit, so maybe he could pop in and guest in Season 4? The audio description here is doing pretty solid work for a sitcom with constant dialogue. I’m not loving the tier system that much. I tried it, but we’re just gonna move on from that.

A Gentleman In Moscow (Paramount Plus), which I’m basically going off the assumption is Andrew Thatcher until told otherwise, has terrific audio description. The whole series has basically taken place in this hotel, with a lot of focus on a small set of characters. This weeks episode had a sad and chilling ending. I do think this is some of Ewan McGregor’s strongest work of his career, and he is perfectly cast. Keep up the great audio description.

The Connors (Hulu) saw Harris find out something about herself, as Ben and Darlene were often too exhausted to do anything, and Dan is willing to help, but won’t do anything to piss off his wife. I’m a Connors fan, and I just want this show to have a solid ending. So I’m hoping ABC picks it up for next season, so it can end on its own terms, knowing the end is coming.

I’m still catching up again on season 1 of The Tourist (Netflix), and I’m still remembering about half of the series. I don’t know why my brain deleted this show. I remember about as much of this show as I do with some older shows I’m watching from 10 or 20 years ago. Bizarre.

Dead Boy Detectives (Netflix) gets even better in the second episode. The audio description here is really good when it comes to helping you understand all these fantasy and supernatural elements that have no basis in reality. For example, I really enjoyed the description of the Cat King, as well as his transformations. Also, the book the boys were reading, and how the pictures came alive, that was really well done. Even little things, like the witch having black fingernails, just help overall.

Franklin (Apple Plus) on the other hand is so bizarre. So, last episode, it got me in my head because there was a scene between two French characters where the same voice did both, and the sound mixing was too loud on the audio description so you couldn’t really hear the voices behind to hear when the character change happened. The third episode uses a female voice to help, and you would think that the female was confined to just female characters. No. She does the translation for a male character. So, in the second episode, when two characters were talking to each other, you’re telling me we COULD have had two different voices? Pick a lane. I also noticed in the third episode, sometimes you could tell who was talking because it takes longer for a Frenchman to say something in his language than we do in English, so the dubbing would stop before the actor was done talking. That helped a lot. With all these shows I’m watching right now having characters in different languages, I’m a little surprised Franklin is the one I’m struggling with. Also, what is the age difference between Michael Douglas and the actress playing his love interest? She sounds like she’s in her 20’s.
