The Too Much TV Roundup- June 17th

It’s time to make the donuts.

1) The Boys (Amazon)

English Audio Description Available?: Yes

Where to begin? The brilliant cameos by Paul Reiser and Seth Rogen? How about that stepdad that is pro-Homelander trying to have some conversation with Milk about how awesome Homelander is. Or that musical number? or Mave and Butcher? There’s really no way around it, this show never bores me. And it seems to find a new way to be outlandish every time out.

Episode Grade: A

2) Barry (HBO/HBO MAX)

English Audio Description Available?: Yes

After the shock of trying to remember what the hell was going on last episode, i finally sat in to what was happening this season, and the already terrific work being done by Bill Hader and Henry Winkler. Once again, two of the strongest Emmy contenders are making a run for their nominations. On the flip side, i know many people love Anthony Carrigan’s character in this show, but I never have. Ever.

Episode Grade: A-

3) Bosch Legacy (Free Vee)

English Audio Description Available?: No

In the 6th? Episode of the season, Eric flees protective custody, and our favorite private eye tries to find him, while also figuring out who the hell is following him. The plot thickens.

Episode Grade: A-

4) Yellowstone (Paramount/Peacock)

English Audio Description Available?: Yes

I’m finally caught up. honestly, the only thing i really didn’t like about the finale was how for the last several episodes I felt Casey really wasn’t doing anything, and the finale didn’t change that. He’s still on a spirit quest. It did allow for more screentime for Kelly Reilly, who I’d be shocked if she didn’t get an Emmy nomination. No offense to what Sarah Snook does on Succession, but Beth Dutton would have buried her by now.

Episode Grade: A-

5) The G-Word With Adam Conover (Netflix)

English Audio Description Available?: Yes

This episode was about the future, and how the government invents in tech that we benefit from in the long run like GPS and drones, and how that’s both good and bad for us, and how silly it is that companies that profit from something like GPS pay so little in taxes.

Episode Grade: A-

6) We Crashed (Apple Plus)

English Audio Description Available?: Yes

in this show that seems to just keep going, I’m starting to wonder if we couldn’t at least have had a shorter episode count. This show did not need to be a limited series, especially one with this many episodes. It’s clear that we’re dragging this out, and not everything is inherently interesting. Still, i have to give props to some terrific acting from Jared Leto who is far better here than he was in House Of Gucci.

Episode Grade: B-
